Unfolding The Biopolymer Landscape written by Viness Pillay and has been published by Bentham Science Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-01-25 with Science categories.

The need for the development of biomaterials as scaffold for tissue regeneration is driven by the increasing demands for materials that mimic functions of extracellular matrices of body tissues. Unfolding the Biopolymer Landscape provides a unique account of “biopolymeric interventions” inherent to biotechnological applications, soft tissue engineering, ophthalmic drug delivery, biotextiles, environmentally responsive systems, neurotherapeutics, and emulsions-based formulations for food and pharmaceutical applications. Chapters in this volume also cover biomedical applications and implications of cationic polymers, collagen-based substrates, multifunctional polymers, shape memory biopolymers, hybrid semisynthetic biomaterials, microbial exopolysaccharides, biomaterials mimicking the extracellular microenvironment, derivatized polysaccharides, and metallic biomaterials. Each chapter is distinctly written by experts in the respective fields and emphasis is given on the mechanistic profile of the performance of biopolymers and biomedical applications. This book provides both basic and advanced biopolymer information for scientific experts and early career researchers in the field of drug delivery, tissue engineering, nanomedicine, food technology, peptide science, biomaterial design, and nutrition. This volume provides a unique account of “biopolymeric interventions” inherent to biotechnological applications, soft tissue engineering, ophthalmic drug delivery, biotextiles, environmentally responsive systems, neurotherapeutics, and emulsions-based formulations for food and pharmaceutical applications.

This contributed volume convenes selected, peer-reviewed works presented at the BIOMAT 2021 International Symposium, which was virtually held on November 1–5, 2021, with its organization staff based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In this volume the reader will find applications of mathematical modeling on health, ecology, and social interactions, addressing topics like probability distributions of mutations in different cancer cell types; oscillations in biological systems; modeling of marine ecosystems; mathematical modeling of organs and tissues at the cellular level; as well as studies on novel challenges related to COVID-19, including the mathematical analysis of a pandemic model targeting effective vaccination strategy and the modeling of the role of media coverage on mitigating the spread of infectious diseases. Held every year since 2001, the BIOMAT International Symposium gathers together, in a single conference, researchers from Mathematics, Physics, Biology, and affine fields to promote the interdisciplinary exchange of results, ideas and techniques, promoting truly international cooperation for problem discussion. BIOMAT volumes published from 2017 to 2020 are also available by Springer.

Degenerative Aortic Valve Disease Its Mechanism On Progression Its Effect On The Left Ventricle And The Postoperative Results written by Wilhelm Peter Mistiaen and has been published by Bentham Science Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-01-10 with Medical categories.

"Degenerative aortic valve disease is the most prominent cardiac valve disease in Western societies. This volume describes some of the more important issues and problems for this condition: its progressive character and the underlying mechanisms of this progression diagnostic difficulties 1) ascertainment of valvular origin of symptoms in elderly; 2) the challenge of the low output – low gradient syndrome; 3) moderate aortic valve calcification during CABG; 4) prediction of the rate of progression (who will need surgery on short term and who not). the burden on the left ventricle and its consequences (danger of postponement of surgery) the effect and the modalities (access, types of valves) of surgical treatment on survival (and QoL) the mode of registering postoperative complications determining predictors for valve related, non-valve related cardiac and non-cardiac postoperative complications. The e-book is a unique presentation, specific to degenerative aortic valve disease and its treatment including information about ways to deal with the progressive character of the disease (autophagy as a mode of cell death). Cardiologists still avoid or delay referring patients to the surgeon for the sake of age, left ventricular function or co-morbidity. Therefore, the e-book benefits readers by addressing the above issue and providing critical information for changing referral policy, which would ultimately enhance postoperative survival of patients suffering from heart valve disease."
