This book challenges white and Western feminist approaches to embodied politics, or the use of the body in everyday enactments of resistance, while mapping transgressive performances of femininities by the funkeiras, marginalized women and transfeminine people of color artists in Brazilian favela funk. Often studied from a white feminist perspective, embodied politics reflects debates about agency and structural change that are generally applicable to white women in the West. Concurrently, studies of femininity tend to universalize experiences of gender oppression encountered by white women to women across the globe. In this work, the author offers a transnational perspective on the performative force of embodied politics as a possible means to disrupt white, classist heteropatriarchal structures that oppress particularly poor women and transfeminine people of color in Brazil. This project has a threefold goal: first, it challenges the theoretical shortcomings of white feminist approaches to embodied politics, providing instead a transfeminista take on the concept. Secondly, this project aims to shed light on how traditional methodological approaches have hindered nuanced understandings of women and people of color and their performances. Third and finally, by challenging and re-envisioning the potential of embodied politics from a transnational perspective, the text intends to contribute to the field of critical intercultural communication's growing but still limited research around bodies and performance, especially of those who are marginalized in global contexts.

Italy has been the first country in history where a National Socialist regime was established. This did not happen by chance, in fact you can trace back the origins of Fascism to the Italian Risorgimento and more precisely to the person of Garibaldi. The purpose of this book is to show the readers how all this happened and to do this we must answer the following questions. Who really was Garibaldi? Was he a hero or a bandit? What has he left to the society and culture of his country? Come and find out the truth, let’s overcome the nonsense that the myth has accumulated on the man who has contributed so incisively to the birth of Italy. Let’s discover the role that Freemasonry has played in the life of Garibaldi and how Freemasonry has contributed to his success. What relationship did Garibaldi have with the Mafia? We examine the origins of this phenomenon and see how the Mafia participated to Garibaldi’s enterprises. Come and listen to the voices of the protagonists. If we read carefully their testimonies we can see how they have sown (unknowingly) the seed of a culture and of a political movement that later became Fascism. At the end, after the death of Garibaldi, let us walk together along the road that, starting from socialism, has led Italy to realize this regime.

Operation Swallow written by Mark Felton and has been published by Icon Books this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-11-07 with History categories.

Operation Swallow is the true story of how a small group of American soldiers, inspired by a charismatic but reluctant leader named Hans Kasten, worked to save hundreds of fellow servicemen from a Nazi plan to turn Jewish prisoners of war into concentration camp slaves. It begins in the snowy forests of the Ardennes during Christmas 1944 and ends at the charnel house of Buchenwald concentration camp in spring 1945. It is a remarkable battle of wills between a young GI thrust into a leadership position he didn't want and an SS officer who will stop at nothing to complete his orders. Written from personal testimonies and official documents, it is an escape story replete with courage, sacrifice, torture, despair and salvation. Even more remarkably, it is a story that has barely been told before, a chapter of US military history that the American government tried to suppress for decades - and an uplifting story that deserves to be widely known.

Suspicious Activity written by Mike Papantonio and has been published by Simon and Schuster this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-03-19 with Fiction categories.

Suspicious Activity is an epic drama of intrigue, suspense, thrills, and legal combat—torn out of today’s headlines. “The purpose of the lawsuit is to fully expose the bank’s willing support to groups that are killing Americans—and others—overseas.” This announcement by attorney Nicholas “Deke” Deketomis sets up the gladiatorial arena between Big Banking and a team of well-meaning activist lawyers. The Iraq and Afghanistan Wars introduced the concept of IEDs (Improvised Explosive Devices) and EFPs (Explosively Formed Penetrators) that seriously maim or kill. It appears that these bombs are still being made and utilized by terrorists overseas. Who is funding them? Could it possibly be a large global bank with a major branch in New York? Is a reverse money laundering scheme in place that allows money transactions to bypass Department of Justice sanctions? Deke and his colleagues—co-counsel Michael Carey and investigators Carol Morris and Jake Rutledge—set out to uncover the deceit and bring the white collar criminals to justice. With the help of Michael’s friend and war veteran, Joel Hartbeck—who first blows the whistle against the bank—the Deketomis team quickly discovers that they may have tackled more than they bargained for. A dangerous right wing paramilitary group might be involved in protecting the bank’s interests, and Hartbeck soon goes missing. As Deke’s lawsuit progresses, the sudden appearance of IEDs and EFPs on US highways cause death and destruction. Who is behind this evil? Readers who devour the financial-action-legal thrillers of Joseph Finder, Stephen Frey, and James Grippando will enjoy Suspicious Activity.
