Interactional Leadership And How To Coach It written by Michael Harvey and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-11-20 with Business & Economics categories.

All leaders make choices, but not all leaders are choice-focused. In Interactional Leadership and How to Coach It: The art of the choice-focused leader Michael Harvey presents an important new theory of leadership which demonstrates how to coach successful choice-making. This clear, wide-ranging book integrates business and psychology, exploring the art of choice-focused leadership through neuroscience, cognitive psychology, existential philosophy and leadership studies. Interactional leadership helps leaders to make informed decisions throughout the "achievement cycle" of strategy, resourcing and delivery, and emphasises the importance of psychological balance. The book features chapter-long case studies which provide unique insights into the leader’s inner world and clearly illustrate how the tightrope of leadership can be mastered. Harvey draws important lessons about decision-making from corporate leaders, politicians and even Shakespeare’s tragic heroes, and addresses the leader’s ethical responsibility for major issues facing us now and in the future. The interactional model also focuses on coaching the multiple roles of leadership, such as global leader, team leader, innovator, entrepreneur and chair of the board. Accessible and practical, Interactional Leadership and How to Coach It is an ideal guide for coaches, leaders, students, trainers of coaches and anyone involved in leadership development and recruitment.

Leadership means to influence and motivate others to accomplish a particular task. Ghandi, Mandela and Churchill are considered to be some of our greatest leaders of all time. But what makes a truly great leader? Former US Army soldier, Blake Repine, capitalised on the skills he learned in the military to successfully transition to various leadership roles in the private and government sectors. His Army experience taught him the key traits required to be an effective leader: strategic thinking; self-discipline; careful research; real listening; and good conversations; attributes that he discovered translate equally well to the corporate world. He has learned from the very best and the very worst of leaders. Now Blake has assembled all his accumulated wisdom and practical knowledge in his book, Soldier to Executive: Applying Army Leadership Principles to the Corporate World, in the hope that others will benefit from his experiences learning how to lead. In combination with his many academic qualifications, Blake's unique mixture of theory, hands-on experience and detailed research make this book a valuable resource for anyone who aspires to be a great leader.

Eubie Blake written by Richard Carlin and has been published by Oxford University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-07-13 with Performing Arts categories.

A new biography of one of the key composers of 20th-century American popular song and jazz, Eubie Blake: Rags, Rhythm and Race illuminates Blake's little-known impact on over 100 years of American culture. A gifted musician, Blake rose from performing in dance halls and bordellos of his native Baltimore to the heights of Broadway. In 1921, together with performer and lyricist Noble Sissle, Blake created Shuffle Along which became a sleeper smash on Broadway eventually becoming one of the top ten musical shows of the 1920s. Despite many obstacles Shuffle Along integrated Broadway and the road and introduced such stars as Josephine Baker, Lottie Gee, Florence Mills, and Fredi Washington. It also proved that black shows were viable on Broadway and subsequent productions gave a voice to great songwriters, performers, and spoke to a previously disenfranchised black audience. As successful as Shuffle Along was, racism and bad luck hampered Blake's career. Remarkably, the third act of Blake's life found him heralded in his 90s at major jazz festivals, in Broadway shows, and on television and recordings. Tracing not only Blake's extraordinary life and accomplishments, Broadway and popular music authorities Richard Carlin and Ken Bloom examine the professional and societal barriers confronted by black artists from the turn of the century through the 1980s. Drawing from a wealth of personal archives and interviews with Blake, his friends, and other scholars, Eubie Blake: Rags, Rhythm and Race offers an incisive portrait of the man and the musical world he inhabited.
