Stringing together both fact and fiction, BLITZ IRAN tells the story of ex-Special Forces trooper Mike Braddon, who, with his bolshie partner Carl Nichols, take up employment in a disintegrating Iraq, working for a private security company, as cover for their secret service work as covert operators. Supposedly under the employ of a shadowy rogue section of the CIA's revamped Special Activities Division - a highly secretive US counter-terrorist unit - Mike and Carl are recruited by Major Christian Mason, an old commanding officer from their days in the SAS, to take part in a series of black operations against various targets in Iran, in order to destabilise the country through a strategy of tension. After causing a trail of devastation across the country's south-western province of Khuzestan, through a series of assassinations, the total destruction of a jihadi training camp, and the ambushing of a missile convoy, their final mission is to destroy certain nuclear devices which have been temporarily stored in the warehouse of a pharmaceutical plant, after fire has destroyed a nearby Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps storage bunker they were being stored in. With the mission going awry, their backup team obliterates the plant with a full-scale mortar attack, and as the chemical tanks go up, the resulting explosion demolishes the suburbs of the nearby city of Abadan. Then after a hair-raising escape back to Iraq, their handler warns the two men that both the American and the British secret services want them silenced for the part they played in the missions, and fleeing for their lives, they then face a dangerously fraught journey along Highway 8 leading to the Khabari Crossing which accesses Kuwait, and after being ambushed along the way, they then face a series of vicious firefights, before eventually seeking temporary refuge in Kuwait, before flying back to London.

This book provides an in-depth examination of the serious security implications that Iran's nuclear program has on a region that is already plagued by insecurity and conflict. Iranian Weapons of Mass Destruction: The Birth of a Regional Nuclear Arms Race? is an expert insider's look at Iran's current and potential ability to wage both conventional and asymmetrical warfare, and the options available for dealing with a nuclear Iran. Are we on the brink of a regional nuclear arms race in the Middle East? In this urgent volume, Anthony Cordesman and Adam Seitz examine how Iran's nuclear ambitions have already altered security policy for the United States, Iran's neighbors, and the international community. Cordesman and Seitz address the full range of issues related to Iran's quest for nuclear weapons, including its emphasis on medium- and long-range missiles, the decline of Iran's conventional military capabilities, and continued Iranian efforts to undercut the spread of democracy in the region.

Iran S Nuclear Program written by Farhad Rezaei and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-01-05 with Political Science categories.

This book presents the first full and systematic account of Iran’s nuclear program from 1979 to 2015. Throughout this time, foreign policy makers, intelligence experts, and scholars on the subject have repeatedly failed to understand the internal dynamics behind Iran's nuclear project and have underestimated the depth of the regime’s commitment to develop nuclear weapons. The author presents an account of little-understood episodes in the history of the nuclear project, including an analysis of the decision making process of the “nuclear sanctum.” A full account is given of the organizations that ran the project and a listing of the suppliers that made the project possible. Finally, the book offers a detailed analysis of the international sanctions placed on Iran, including the induced anomie and legitimacy crisis which expedited the decision to rollback.

No President in living memory has entered office with a greater amount of goodwill and broad, bi-partisan support than Barack Obama. And few Presidents in living memory had arrived in Washington proclaiming such dramatically articulated vows to change the tone of politics, to usher in an era of post-partisanship in an effort to rally the nation behind his plan of enacting an ambitious program of social and economic change. He vowed to enact a broad bi-partisan agenda for health care reform, energy transformation, economic revitalization, job growth and restoration of America's standing in the world. And no President in living memory has more quickly and more completely abandoned his promises. He enacted a health care plan that far more resembled plans he had bitterly criticized his opponents for supporting rather than the one his campaign outlined His promised job growth through economic stimulus measures drove up the unemployment rate to double digits leading to millions of job losses His vows to restore fiscal probity resulted in the most ruinous deficits and public debt in U.S. history He 'green energy' program collapsed into a cesspool of crony political favoritism His vows to restore relations with hostile nations like Iran and North Korea had only deepened those nations' disdain for America Despite his harsh criticisms, Obama adopted nearly every plank in the Bush-era anti-terror policy His promise to restore science to its rightful place resulted in the most rigidly inflexible program of ideological extremism in modern memory Even more noteworthy was the fact that the new era of post-partisanship he had vowed to create in Washington resulted in the worst political gridlock in living memory. This book examines in detail hundreds of campaign promises Obama made while running for President, contrasting those with the record of failure and broken promises left in his wake. It is a story that has received too little attention - until now.

The Iranian Nuclear Crisis written by Seyed Hossein Mousavian and has been published by Brookings Institution Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-07-12 with Political Science categories.

The first detailed Iranian account of the diplomatic struggle between Iran and the international community, The Iranian Nuclear Crisis: A Memoir opens in 2002, as news of Iran's clandestine uranium enrichment and plutonium production facilities emerge. Seyed Hossein Mousavian, previously the head of the Foreign Relations Committee of Iran's Supreme National Security Council and spokesman for Tehran's nuclear negotiating team, brings the reader into Tehran's private deliberations as its leaders wrestle with internal and external adversaries. Mousavian provides readers with intimate knowledge of Iran's interactions with the International Atomic Energy Agency and global powers. His personal story comes alive as he vividly recounts his arrest and interrogations on charges of espionage. Dramatic episodes of diplomatic missions tell much about the author and the swirling dynamics of Iranian politics and diplomacy—undercurrents that must be understood now more than ever. As intense debate continues over the direction of Iran's nuclear program, Mousavian weighs the likely effects of military strikes, covert action, sanctions, and diplomatic engagement, considering their potential to resolve the nuclear crisis. Contents 1. The Origin and Development of Iran's Nuclear Program 2. The First Crisis 3. From Tehran to Paris 4. From the Paris Agreement to the 2005 Presidential Election 5. The Larijani Period 6. To the Security Council 7. Back to the Security Council and a New Domestic Situation 8. Iran Alone: The Jalili Period 9. U.S. Engagement 10. The Crisis Worsens 11. Conclusion

Understanding Iran written by William R. Polk and has been published by St. Martin's Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009-10-27 with Political Science categories.

William R. Polk provides an informative, readable history of a country which is moving quickly toward becoming the dominant power and culture of the Middle East. A former member of the State Department's Policy Planning Council, Polk describes a country and a history misunderstood by many in the West. While Iranians chafe under the yolk of their current leaders, they also have bitter memories of generations of British, Russian and American espionage, invasion, and dominance. There are important lessons to be learned from the past, and Polk teases them out of a long and rich history and shows that it is not just now, but for decades to come that an understanding of Iran will be essential to American safety and well-being.
