Blood On The Boulders written by Diego de Vargas and has been published by UNM Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1998 with Biography & Autobiography categories.

Having retaken Santa Fe by force of arms late in 1693, Diego de Vargas faces unrelenting challenges, waging active warfare against defiant Pueblo Indian resisters while maintaining peace with Pueblo allies; providing homes, food, and supplies for 1,500 unsure colonists; and bidding unceasingly for greater support from viceregal authorities in Mexico City. At the head of combined units of Spanish and Pueblo fighting men, the governor in 1694 leads repeated assaults on castle-like fortified sites. Through combat, prisoner exchange, and negotiation, he reestablishes the kingdom. Franciscans reopen some of the missions. Vargas founds the villa of Santa Cruz de la Cañada. Pueblos north and west of Santa Fe rebel again in 1696; wearily, Vargas reports more blood on the boulders. Through The Journals of don Diego de Vargas, translated from official and private correspondence, we are drawn back, through conflict and compromise, into New Mexico's formative era.

All might be free if they valued freedom, and defended it as they should. - Samuel Adams In the late 1920's, the well-oiled machine of capitalist interest ran roughshod over the civil rights of American workers. Blood on the Constitution follows Teddy Albert Gall through the horrific world of brutality, rape, exploitation, and murder that characterised this era for so many whose voices were lost to history. Albert, as he is called, ex-marine and talented prize fighter, is drawn into the deadly world of the trade union movement; unions, big business, mafia, and the ranks of the oppressed and the oppressors all struggle for supremacy. Teddy enters the fray, compelled by his noble sense of justice, yet tortured by the fact that he is endangering the lives and livelihoods of those around him... pursued by a psychotic serial hit man and pursuing happiness with the woman he loves. In Blood on the Constitution, the long awaited sequel to The Ragman's War, Sukle provides a fascinating and impeccably researched insight into a key period that shaped the America we know today. Its compelling characters and shocking tales are skilfully interwoven, culminating in an unforgettable climactic confrontation.

Blood On The Snow written by Jan Bondeson and has been published by Cornell University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-06-25 with True Crime categories.

The Swedish Prime Minister Olof Palme, a major figure in world politics and an ardent opponent of apartheid, was shot dead on the streets of Stockholm in February 1986. At the time of his death, Palme was deeply involved in Middle East diplomacy and was working under UN auspices to end the Iran-Iraq war. Across Scandinavia, Palme's killing had an impact similar to that of the Kennedy assassinations in the United States—and it ignited nearly as many conspiracy theories. Interest in the Palme slaying was most recently stirred by reports of the death of Christer Pettersson, who was tried for the murder twice, convicted the first time, and then acquitted on appeal. In his investigative account of Palme's still-unsolved murder, the historian Jan Bondeson meticulously recreates the assassination and its aftermath. Like the best works of crime fiction, this book puts the victim and his death into social context. Bondeson's work, however, is noteworthy for its dispassionate treatment of police incompetence: the police did not answer a witness's phone call reporting the murder just 45 seconds after it occurred, and further time was lost as the police sought to confirm that someone had actually been shot. When the police arrived on the scene, they did not even recognize the victim as the Prime Minister. This early confusion was emblematic of the errors that were to follow. Bondeson demolishes the various conspiracy theories that have been devised to make sense of the killing, before suggesting a convincing explanation of his own. A brilliant piece of investigative journalism, Blood on the Snow includes crime-scene photographs and reconstructions that have never before been published and offers a gripping narrative of a crime that shocked a continent.
