Blue Öyster Cult On Track is a song-by-song analysis of the discography of Long Island’s greatest sons, the Blue Öyster Cult. Dubbed 'the thinking man’s heavy metal band' and celebrated by critics, fans and musicians since their debut album in 1972, the band carved a unique path in hard rock history by combining chops, humour, occultism, poetry, jazz chords and pop sensibilities. Best known for their FM radio hits '(Don’t Fear) The Reaper' and 'Burnin’ For You', Blue Öyster Cult’s discography is in fact a treasure trove of fascinating, ever-evolving music by a band that was never afraid to explore, and never had the slightest respect for genre boundaries. The band's influence stretches from seminal metal bands like Metallica to cult act like Current 93 and their music has been heard in movies like Scream and Halloween and has been quoted by Stephen King. This book combines the author’s analyses of Blue Öyster Cult’s songs with insights from band members and people who worked with the band through the years. It is the ultimate companion for a deep dive into the catalogue of a band whose music is both inscrutable, fascinating and rewarding. From the canonized first four albums through their controversial 80s output and all the way to their revitalization and comeback in the late 90s, this book treats every era of the band with equal respect. Jacob Holm-Lupo is a Norwegian musician and journalist. He has covered culture, music and movies for magazines since 2001, and he has been a recording artist with, among others, his own progressive rock band White Willow since 1995. He runs his own recording studio from his home on a small island in the Oslo fjord where he lives with his wife, two children, several Italian cars and a dog. He has been Norway’s no. 1 Blue Öyster Cult fan since 1984.

"[This book] examines the complicated early days of the band, graphically demonstrating the showbiz sweat that goes into making a a succeswsful act. [It] is centred around the ... quality of the songs - made entertaining by the band's psychotropic & ghoulish humour, its interest in all manner of conspiracy theories, cults, monsters, vampires, UFOs, fopul play, arcane spiritualism, alchemy, love lost & love buried, science fiction & friction. The author draws on hsi personal interviews with Roeser, Bloom, Albert & Joe Bouchard, along with drummer Bobby Rondinelli, ... band pproducer Murray Krugman and BOC expert Bolle Gregmar."--Back cover.

Blue Öyster Cult, often abbreviated BÖC or BOC, is a rock group formed in Stony Brook, New York, US during 1967, best known for the singles (Don't Fear) The Reaper, Burnin' for You, Cities on Flame with Rock and Roll, and Godzilla. They've sold 25 million records worldwide, including 7 million in the US. The band's music videos, particularly Burnin' for You, were heavily rotated on MTV when the music television network started up in 1981, the group helping the development of the music video in modern popular culture. Blue Öyster Cult's longest-lasting, most successful lineup included Donald 'Buck Dharma' Roeser (lead guitar, vocals), Eric Bloom (lead vocals, 'stun guitar'), Allen Lanier (keyboards, rhythm guitar, backing vocals), Joe Bouchard (bass, vocals), and Albert Bouchard (drums, percussion, vocals). The band's latest lineup includes Bloom and Roeser, Danny Miranda (bass, backing vocals), Jules Radino (drums, percussion) and Richie Castellano (keyboards, rhythm guitar, backing vocals).

Anthem Rush In The 1970s written by Martin Popoff and has been published by ECW Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-05-12 with Music categories.

The definitive biography of the rock ’n’ roll kings of the North With extensive, first-hand reflections from Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson, and Neil Peart, as well as from family, friends, and fellow musicians, Anthem: Rush in the ’70s is a detailed portrait of Canada’s greatest rock ambassadors. The first of three volumes, Anthem puts the band’s catalog, from their self-titled debut to 1978’s Hemispheres (the next volume resumes with the release of Permanent Waves) into both Canadian and general pop culture context, and presents the trio of quintessentially dependable, courteous Canucks as generators of incendiary, groundbreaking rock ’n’ roll. Fighting complacency, provoking thought, and often enraging critics, Rush has been at war with the music industry since 1974, when they were first dismissed as the Led Zeppelin of the north. Anthem, like each volume in this series, celebrates the perseverance of Geddy, Alex, and Neil: three men who maintained their values while operating from a Canadian base, throughout lean years, personal tragedies, and the band’s eventual worldwide success.
