Body-flight Basics breaks down the mechanics of skydiving and wind tunnel flying, presenting a definable structure that helps to bolster an individual's body-flight progression. It also provides guidance and support to both novice and experienced body-flyers that wish to achieve their full potential in the aerial environment. No matter who you are or your current level of skill, this book is for all those who want to take their flying to the next level. Starting with the fundamentals, it takes the reader all the way from achieving basic skills right through to mastering advanced vertical and angled flying styles. All skills and drills covered are (with some small amount of adjustment) transferable between the wind tunnel environment and the sky, making Body-flight Basics a valuable compendium for both tunnel flyers and skydivers alike. It is primarily a technical book, but is written in a warm, conversational style making it relatable, fun and easy to follow. The book also includes introductory contributions from some of the world's leading body-flight pioneers, making it as philosophically insightful as it is technically comprehensive. It is a book about us: who we are, and how we fly as individuals. There really is nothing else quite like it!

Basic Flight Mechanics written by Ashish Tewari and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-04-22 with Technology & Engineering categories.

This book presents flight mechanics of aircraft, spacecraft, and rockets to technical and non-technical readers in simple terms and based purely on physical principles. Adapting an accessible and lucid writing style, the book retains the scientific authority and conceptual substance of an engineering textbook without requiring a background in physics or engineering mathematics. Professor Tewari explains relevant physical principles of flight by straightforward examples and meticulous diagrams and figures. Important aspects of both atmospheric and space flight mechanics are covered, including performance, stability and control, aeroelasticity, orbital mechanics, and altitude control. The book describes airplanes, gliders, rotary wing and flapping wing flight vehicles, rockets, and spacecraft and visualizes the essential principles using detailed illustration. It is an ideal resource for managers and technicians in the aerospace industry without engineering degrees, pilots, and anyone interested in the mechanics of flight.

Basics Of Aerothermodynamics written by Ernst Heinrich Hirschel and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-01-06 with Technology & Engineering categories.

This successful book gives an introduction to the basics of aerothermodynamics, as applied in particular to winged re-entry vehicles and airbreathing hypersonic cruise and acceleration vehicles. The book gives a review of the issues of transport of momentum, energy and mass, real-gas effects as well as inviscid and viscous flow phenomena. In this second, revised edition the chapters with the classical topics of aerothermodynamics more or less were left untouched. The access to some single topics of practical interest was improved. Auxiliary chapters were put into an appendix. The recent successful flights of the X-43A and the X-51A indicate that the dawn of sustained airbreathing hypersonic flight now has arrived. This proves that the original approach of the book to put emphasis on viscous effects and the aerothermodynamics of radiation-cooled vehicle surfaces was timely. This second, revised edition even more accentuates these topics. A new, additional chapter treats examples of viscous thermal surface effects. Partly only very recently obtained experimental and numerical results show the complexity of such phenomena (dependence of boundary-layer stability, skin friction, boundary-layer thicknesses, and separation on the thermal state of the surface) and their importance for airbreathing hypersonic flight vehicles, but also for any other kind of hypersonic vehicle.

Sibley S Birding Basics written by David Allen Sibley and has been published by Knopf this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008-12-18 with Nature categories.

From the renowned author of the New York Times best seller The Sibley Guide to Birds, a comprehensive, beautifully illustrated guide to identifying birds in the field. Sibley's Birding Basics is an essential companion for birders of all skill and experience levels. With Sibley as your guide, learn how to interpret what the feathers, the anatomical structure, the sounds of a bird tell you. When you know the clues that show you why there’s no such thing as, for example, “just a duck” birding will be more fun, and more meaningful. An essential addition to the Sibley shelf! The Sibley Guide to Birds and The Sibley Guide to Bird Life and Behavior are both universally acclaimed as the new standard source of species information. And now David Sibley, America’s premier birder and best-known bird artist, turns his attention to the general characteristics that influence the appearance of all birds, unlocking the clues to their identity. In 200 beautifully rendered illustrations and 16 essays, this scientifically precise volume distills the essence of Sibley’s own experience and skills, providing a solid introduction to “naming” the birds. Birding Basics reviews how one can get started as a birder—the equipment necessary, where and when to go birding, and perhaps most important, the essential things to look for when birds appear in the field—as well as the basic concepts of bird identification and the variations that can change the appearance of a bird over time or in different settings. Sibley also provides critical information on the aspects of avian life that differ from species to species: feathers (color, arrangement, shape, molt), behavior and habitat, and sounds.
