Mit der Unterzeichnung der Bologna-Erklärung im Jahr 1999 haben sich 29 europäische Länder zur Schaffung eines gemeinsamen europäischen Hochschulraumes ausgesprochen. Dieser hat als oberstes Ziel, die Attraktivität von Studienabsolventen für den Arbeitsmarkt zu erhöhen. Unter den Unterzeichner-Staaten findet sich auch Österreich, wo die Maßnahmen zur Umsetzung des europäischen Hochschulraumes weitestgehend implementiert wurden. Als wahrscheinlich gravierendste Reform wurde das bisher übliche Diplomstudium von den Bachelor- und Masterstudien abgelöst. Obwohl bereits zehn Jahre seit der Unterzeichnung der Bologna-Erklärung vergangen sind und die ersten Absolventen der neuen Studien berufstätig sind, bestehen noch immer Unklarheiten was die Einordnung der neuen Studienabschlüsse Bachelor und Master betrifft. Im Rahmen dieser Arbeit soll herausgefunden werden, wie Personalisten österreichischer Unternehmen Bachelors und Masters beurteilen und welche Auswirkungen diese Studienabschlüsse auf die Karrieremöglichkeiten von Absolventen haben. Ebenfalls interessieren bei dieser Untersuchung konkrete Empfehlungen seitens der befragten Experten an Studierende und Hochschuleinrichtungen, um die Ziele aus der Bologna-Erklärung tatsächlich erreichen zu können.*****By signing the Bologna-Declaration in 1999, 29 European countries agreed to the creation of a common European Higher Education Area whose main goal is the enhancement of the alumni's attractiveness to employers. Among the signing countries is Austria, where most of the measures to fulfill the European Higher Education Area have already been implemented. The most significant change in the Austrian higher education system was the replacement of the diploma studies by bachelor and master studies, respectively. Although ten years have now elapsed since the beginning of the reform process, there is still a lack of clarity concerning the new higher education system as to how to fit the new Bachelor and Master degrees into the larger educational fold. Therefore, this paper presents the evaluation of these new degrees by human resources managers in Austria and sheds light on the potential career tracks alumni might pursue upon earning these degrees. Additionally, the present thesis elaborates on specific career advice provided by the queried pundits to students and universities to effectively attain the goals of the Bologna-Declaration.

This edition of Critical New Literacies: The Praxis of English Language Teaching and Learning (PELT) begins with an examination of bricolage as a way to engage in critical research in TEFL/TESOL teaching and research. The volume considers the quality of ‘encounter’ needed in the global and intercultural classroom. The authors address validity, reliability and an authentic need for research which has at its heart ethical practice. Disenfranchisement of the co-participants in research, which is usually not considered, is reviewed in the volume. The manner in which quantitative methods can be used to deliberate on “praxis” is also explored. Self-reflexive practice is at the heart of EFL research and remains central to this volume. The authors are all praxis based research practitioners and make the work of research accessible, equitable and socially just. Mai 1998 wurde mit den Willensbekundungen der Bildungsminister Deutschlands, Frankreichs, Italiens und des Vereinigten Königreiches, das Potenzial europäischer Hochschulen in Zukunft besser nutzen zu wollen, der Bologna-Prozess mit Unterzeichnung der Sorbonne-Erklärung ins Rollen gebracht. Ein Jahr später, am 19. Juni 1999, wurde durch die Initiative der 29 Unterzeichnerstaaten der Sorbonne-Erklärung angestoßene Bologna-Erklärung („Der Europäische Hochschulraum“) verabschiedet. In dieser setzten sie sich das Ziel, einen gemeinsamen Europäischen Hochschulraum bis zum Jahr 2010 zu schaffen. Aufgrund eigener Berührungspunkte mit Studium und Lehre und vieler Diskussionen in der Öffentlichkeit wurde der Bologna-Prozess als Thema der Hausarbeit gewählt. Im ersten Teil der Arbeit sollen die Notwendigkeit der Errichtung eines Europäischen Hochschulraums und die sechs originären Ziele des Bologna-Prozesses dargestellt werden. Anschließend wird beschrieben wie die Studienqualität gesichert werden soll. Hierzu wird kurz die Dimension der europäischen Zusammenarbeit aufgezeigt. Welche Standards im Rahmen dieser gemeinsamen Arbeit aufgestellt wurden, zeigt der nächste Abschnitt der Hausarbeit. Wie die Qualitätssicherung im europäischen Raum gewährleistet werden soll, wird im Folgenden näher beleuchtet. Danach geht die vorliegende Arbeit auf die verschiedenen Methoden der Qualitätssicherung ein. Der nächste Abschnitt behandelt wie die Umsetzung und Einhaltung der Standards überprüft werden. Grundlage für eine Einschätzung der Gedanken zum Qualitätssicherungssystem in Europa soll eine Darstellung über die Umsetzung von Qualitätssicherungssystemen in Deutschland sein. In welcher Form diese realisiert werden, wie dabei vorgegangen wird und welche Probleme dabei auftreten, bilden den Schwerpunkt des folgenden Abschnitts. Die Gegenüberstellung der Theorie und der Praxis sollen zu einer Bewertung der Umsetzung führen.
