Bom Bali written by Andrew Csabi and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012 with Bali Bombings, Kuta, Bali, Indonesia, 2002 categories.

Rarely does someone go overseas for a holiday with friends and come back as someone who has survived a terrorist attack and an atrocity whose aftermath resembled an horrendous war zone. Rarely does someone survive a blast as devastating as the Bali bombing on 12th October 2002 that killed 202 innocent people, including 88 Australians. Andrew Csabi has survived gracefully and admirably. While he continues to deal with his injuries ten years on, he is so thankful to be alive: so thankful to be able to share his story with people and continue to share a drink or two with mates. He is a true inspiration who moves people to the core with his presence and so often moves them to tears when he speaks of his experiences. He has looked death squarely in the eye and has refused to be beaten. He has smelled the stench of chemicals and burning flesh, heard the screams and cries for help, seen the tears, the anguish and heartbreak or family members who lost loved ones … many who continue to suffer to this day. From that moment on, his life would never be the same as it was. Andy Csabi is, by any measure, an inspirational Australian who I am proud to say is a mate. And mateship is what helped him survive the horror of the Bali bombings. Peter Overton, Channel 9

Who Did This To Our Bali written by Dewi Anggraeni and has been published by ISBS this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2003 with Political Science categories.

On 12 October 2002, Bali seemed to crumble overnight, when hundreds of tourists and locals who were enjoying themselves became victims of two horrific bomb blasts. The bombs took the lives of 202 people -- 88 of whom were Australians, and severely injured many more. The Bali bombing brought Australians closer to the terror which has dominated world headlines for over a year. This book presents a comprehensive summary of the event, the investigation and the main perpetrators. Dewi's work as an Indonesian journalist in Australia puts her in a unique position to observe and understand how the tragedy of the Bali bombing has played out in Australia, Bali and elsewhere in Indonesia. Indonesians and foreign observers alike have been pondering whether 'Indonesian Islam' remains as moderate, liberal and tolerant as many had believed. Part of this book is about Dewi's own journey through this pondering. Includes: Map of Eastern Indonesia; Plan of Kuta, showing Sari Club and Paddy's Bar; four colour plates of Kuta and the main perpetrators of the bombing.

Riots Pogroms Jihad written by John T. Sidel and has been published by Cornell University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-07-05 with Political Science categories.

In October 2002 a bomb blast in a Balinese nightclub killed more than two hundred people, many of them young Australian tourists. This event and subsequent attacks on foreign targets in Bali and Jakarta in 2003, 2004, and 2005 brought Indonesia into the global media spotlight as a site of Islamist terrorist violence. Yet the complexities of political and religious struggles in Indonesia, the most populous Muslim country in the world, remain little known and poorly understood in the West. In Riots, Pogroms, Jihad, John T. Sidel situates these terrorist bombings and other "jihadist" activities in Indonesia against the backdrop of earlier episodes of religious violence in the country, including religious riots in provincial towns and cities in 1995-1997, the May 1998 riots in Jakarta, and interreligious pogroms in 1999-2001. Sidel's close account of these episodes of religious violence in Indonesia draws on a wide range of documentary, ethnographic, and journalistic materials. Sidel chronicles these episodes of violence and explains the overall pattern of change in religious violence over a ten-year period in terms of the broader discursive, political, and sociological contexts in which they unfolded. Successive shifts in the incidence of violence-its forms, locations, targets, perpetrators, mobilizational processes, and outcomes-correspond, Sidel suggests, to related shifts in the very structures of religious authority and identity in Indonesia during this period. He interprets the most recent "jihadist" violence as a reflection of the post-1998 decline of Islam as a banner for unifying and mobilizing Muslims in Indonesian politics and society. Sidel concludes this book by reflecting on the broader implications of the pattern observed in Indonesia both for understanding Islamic terrorism in particular and for analyzing religious violence in all its varieties.
