En août 1943, l’auteur arrive à Paris où il rencontre Guéorgui Chibanov, une vieille connaissance. Ce dernier l’associe au travail d’organisation de la Résistance dans les camps de prisonniers de guerre et civils soviétiques des départements du Nord et du Pas de Calais. L’auteur va de ville en ville, rencontre des agents de liaison, leur remet des consignes et des tracts, recueille des comptes rendus, établit des contacts avec les camps restés hors du réseau. Il fait connaissance avec de nombres personnalités remarquables dont Vassili Porik, qui manifeste un courage et une vaillance extraordinaire. Au début de 1944, l’auteur se voit confier une mission de sape auprès des hommes de Vlassov. En février 1944, la Gestapo envoie des provocateurs à l’Union des patriotes russes et procède à de nombreuses arrestations. L’auteur en réchappe par miracle. En mai 1944 est arrêté à Thil Ivan Troyan, responsable de l’organisation de la Résistance dans le nord-est de la France. L’auteur nous livre une évocation colorée de la libération de Paris. À la fin du récit, il obtient enfin l’autorisation de rentrer au pays. En annexe, des matériaux d’archive récemment découverts nous révèlent les circonstances tragiques de l’arrestation et de la mort de Vassili Porik.

STEFAN ULRICH Německý novinář a spisovatel se narodil roku 1963 v německém Starnbergu. Po maturitě vystudoval práva v Mnichově a ve Freiburgu. Rozhodl se pracovat jako novinář a zaměřil se na zahraniční politiku. V srpnu 2005 se spolu s manželkou a dvěma dětmi přestěhovali z Mnichova do Říma, kde ho čekala práce dopisovatele Süddeutsche Zeitung. Měl čtenářům přinášet informace z Říma, Itálie a Vatikánu. Vedle toho stačil napsat dvě knihy – Quattro Stagioni: Ein Jahr in Rom a Arrivederci, Roma! Od podzimu 2009 působí jako dopisovatel v Paříži, což zatím stačil zúročit v knize Bonjour la France!
