Numerical Solution Of Boundary Value Problems For Ordinary Differential Equations written by Uri M. Ascher and has been published by SIAM this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1988-01-01 with Mathematics categories.
This book is the most comprehensive, up-to-date account of the popular numerical methods for solving boundary value problems in ordinary differential equations. It aims at a thorough understanding of the field by giving an in-depth analysis of the numerical methods by using decoupling principles. Numerous exercises and real-world examples are used throughout to demonstrate the methods and the theory. Although first published in 1988, this republication remains the most comprehensive theoretical coverage of the subject matter, not available elsewhere in one volume. Many problems, arising in a wide variety of application areas, give rise to mathematical models which form boundary value problems for ordinary differential equations. These problems rarely have a closed form solution, and computer simulation is typically used to obtain their approximate solution. This book discusses methods to carry out such computer simulations in a robust, efficient, and reliable manner.

1. We describe, at first in a very formaI manner, our essential aim. n Let m be an op en subset of R , with boundary am. In m and on am we introduce, respectively, linear differential operators P and Qj' 0 ~ i ~ 'V. By "non-homogeneous boundary value problem" we mean a problem of the following type: let f and gj' 0 ~ i ~ 'v, be given in function space s F and G , F being a space" on m" and the G/ s spaces" on am" ; j we seek u in a function space u/t "on m" satisfying (1) Pu = f in m, (2) Qju = gj on am, 0 ~ i ~ 'v«])). Qj may be identically zero on part of am, so that the number of boundary conditions may depend on the part of am considered 2. We take as "working hypothesis" that, for fEF and gjEG , j the problem (1), (2) admits a unique solution u E U/t, which depends 3 continuously on the data . But for alllinear probIems, there is a large number of choiees for the space s u/t and {F; G} (naturally linke d together). j Generally speaking, our aim is to determine families of spaces 'ft and {F; G}, associated in a "natural" way with problem (1), (2) and con j venient for applications, and also all possible choiees for u/t and {F; G} j in these families.

Boundary Value Problems For Analytic Functions written by Jian-Ke Lu and has been published by World Scientific this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1993 with Mathematics categories.
This book deals with boundary value problems for analytic functions with applications to singular integral equations. New and simpler proofs of certain classical results such as the Plemelj formula, the Privalov theorem and the Poincar-Bertrand formula are given. Nearly one third of this book contains the author's original works, most of which have not been published in English before and, hence, were previously unknown to most readers in the world. It consists of 7 chapters together with an appendix: Chapter I describes the basic knowledge on Cauchy-type integrals and Cauchy principal value integrals; Chapters II and III study, respectively, fundamental boundary value problems and their applications to singular integral equations for closed contours; Chapters IV and V discuss the same problems for curves with nodes (including open arcs); Chaper VI deals with similar problems for systems of functions; Chapter VII is concerned with some miscellaneous problems and the Appendix contains some basic results on Fredholm integral equations. In most sections, there are carefully selected sets of exercises, some of which supplement the text of the sections; answers/hints are also given for some of these exercises. For graduate students or seniors, all the 7 chapters can be used for a full year course, while the first 3 chapters may be used for a one-semester course.

Initial Boundary Value Problems And The Navier Stokes Equation written by Heinz-Otto Kreiss and has been published by SIAM this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2004-01-01 with Science categories.
Initial-Boundary Value Problems and the Navier-Stokes Equations gives an introduction to the vast subject of initial and initial-boundary value problems for PDEs. Applications to parabolic and hyperbolic systems are emphasized in this text. The Navier-Stokes equations for compressible and incompressible flows are taken as an example to illustrate the results. The subjects addressed in the book, such as the well-posedness of initial-boundary value problems, are of frequent interest when PDEs are used in modeling or when they are solved numerically. The book explains the principles of these subjects. The reader will learn what well-posedness or ill-posedness means and how it can be demonstrated for concrete problems. Audience: when the book was written, the main intent was to write a text on initial-boundary value problems that was accessible to a rather wide audience. Functional analytical prerequisites were kept to a minimum or were developed in the book. Boundary conditions are analyzed without first proving trace theorems, and similar simplifications have been used throughout. This book continues to be useful to researchers and graduate students in applied mathematics and engineering.

In the present edition I have included "Supplements and Problems" located at the end of each chapter. This was done with the aim of illustrating the possibilities of the methods contained in the book, as well as with the desire to make good on what I have attempted to do over the course of many years for my students-to awaken their creativity, providing topics for independent work. The source of my own initial research was the famous two-volume book Methods of Mathematical Physics by D. Hilbert and R. Courant, and a series of original articles and surveys on partial differential equations and their applications to problems in theoretical mechanics and physics. The works of K. o. Friedrichs, which were in keeping with my own perception of the subject, had an especially strong influence on me. I was guided by the desire to prove, as simply as possible, that, like systems of n linear algebraic equations in n unknowns, the solvability of basic boundary value (and initial-boundary value) problems for partial differential equations is a consequence of the uniqueness theorems in a "sufficiently large" function space. This desire was successfully realized thanks to the introduction of various classes of general solutions and to an elaboration of the methods of proof for the corresponding uniqueness theorems. This was accomplished on the basis of comparatively simple integral inequalities for arbitrary functions and of a priori estimates of the solutions of the problems without enlisting any special representations of those solutions.

Boundary Value Problems For Engineers written by Ali Ümit Keskin and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-06-19 with Mathematics categories.
This book is designed to supplement standard texts and teaching material in the areas of differential equations in engineering such as in Electrical ,Mechanical and Biomedical engineering. Emphasis is placed on the Boundary Value Problems that are often met in these fields. This keeps the the spectrum of the book rather focussed .The book has basically emerged from the need in the authors lectures on “Advanced Numerical Methods in Biomedical Engineering” at Yeditepe University and it is aimed to assist the students in solving general and application specific problems in Science and Engineering at upper-undergraduate and graduate level.Majority of the problems given in this book are self-contained and have varying levels of difficulty to encourage the student. Problems that deal with MATLAB simulations are particularly intended to guide the student to understand the nature and demystify theoretical aspects of these problems. Relevant references are included at the end of each chapter. Here one will also find large number of software that supplements this book in the form of MATLAB script (.m files). The name of the files used for the solution of a problem are indicated at the end of each corresponding problem statement. There are also some exercises left to students as homework assignments in the book. An outstanding feature of the book is the large number and variety of the solved problems that are included in it. Some of these problems can be found relatively simple, while others are more challenging and used for research projects. All solutions to the problems and script files included in the book have been tested using recent MATLAB software. The features and the content of this book will be most useful to the students studying in Engineering fields, at different levels of their education (upper undergraduate-graduate).
