This Excellent Collection brings together Bram Stoker's longer, major books and a fine selection of shorter pieces and Fiction Books. These Books created and collected in Bram Stoker's Most important Works illuminate the life and work of one of the most individual writers of the XX century - a man who elevated political writing to an art. Abraham "Bram" Stoker (8 November 1847 – 20 April 1912) was an Irish author, best known today for his 1897 Gothic horror novel Dracula. During his lifetime, he was better known as the personal assistant of actor Sir Henry Irving and business manager of the Lyceum Theatre, which Irving owned. Stoker visited the English coastal town of Whitby in 1890, and that visit was said to be part of the inspiration for Dracula. He began writing novels while working as manager for Irving and secretary and director of London's Lyceum Theatre, beginning with The Snake's Pass in 1890 and Dracula in 1897. During this period, Stoker was part of the literary staff of The Daily Telegraph in London, and he wrote other fiction, including the horror novels The Lady of the Shroud (1909) and The Lair of the White Worm (1911). He published his Personal Reminiscences of Henry Irving in 1906, after Irving's death, which proved successful and managed productions at the Prince of Wales Theatre. Before writing Dracula, Stoker met Ármin Vámbéry, a Hungarian-Jewish writer and traveller (born in Szent-György, Kingdom of Hungary now Svätý Jur, Slovakia). Dracula likely emerged from Vámbéry's dark stories of the Carpathian mountains. Stoker then spent several years researching Central and East European folklore and mythological stories of vampire. This Collection included: 1. A Dream of Red Hands 2. Crooken Sands 3. Dracula 4. Dracula's Guest 5. The Burial of the Rats 6. The Dualitists 7. The Invisible Giant 8. The Jewel of Seven Stars 9. The Judge's House 10. The Lair of the White Worm 11. The Man 12. Under the Sunset

At the peak of his career, Abraham "Bram" Stoker (November 8, 1847 - April 20, 1912) was working as an assistant for his friend, Shakespearean actor Sir Henry Irving, a well known and acclaimed actor in his day. But it would be the assistant whose name would outshine the boss's. Stoker, an Irish novelist and short story writer, is known around the globe for his Gothic horror character Dracula. Inspired in part by his friend Irving, as well as the notorious Vlad the Impaler, Stoker studied stories about vampires, but ultimately his Count Dracula would become synonymous with the famous monsters. And drawing off his experience as a newspaper writer, Stoker wrote Dracula as a collection of realistic diary entries, telegrams, letters, ship's logs, and newspaper clippings, all of which made the story that much scarier and unique.

Four days and nights of peace. I am getting so strong again that I hardly know myself. It is as if I had passed through some long nightmare, and had just awakened to see the beautiful sunshine and feel the fresh air of the morning around me. I have a dim half-remembrance of long, anxious times of waiting and fearing; darkness in which there was not even the pain of hope to make present distress more poignant: and then long spells of oblivion, and the rising back to life as a diver coming up through a great press of water. Since, however, Dr. Van Helsing has been with me, all this bad dreaming seems to have passed away; the noises that used to frighten me out of my wits—the flapping against the windows, the distant voices which seemed so close to me, the harsh sounds that came from I know not where and commanded me to do I know not what—have all ceased. I go to bed now without any fear of sleep. I do not even try to keep awake. I have grown quite fond of the garlic, and a boxful arrives for me every day from Haarlem. To-night Dr. Van Helsing is going away, as he has to be for a day in Amsterdam. But I need not be watched; I am well enough to be left alone. Thank God for mother's sake, and dear Arthur's, and for all our friends who have been so kind! I shall not even feel the change, for last night Dr. Van Helsing slept in his chair a lot of the time. I found him asleep twice when I awoke; but I did not fear to go to sleep again, although the boughs or bats or something napped almost angrily against the window-panes.

A five volume set from the Master of the Master of Vampires! As the creator of Dracula, Bram Stoker needs no introduction-he is as famous as the iconic character he created. However, Stoker did not confine his literary excursions into the macabre to his greatest creation alone, he has left us an entertaining, terrifying and substantial collection of fiction concerned with places, times and creatures of terror. Leonaur has collected together a thrilling assembly of Stoker's strange fiction-contained within five large volumes-so today's readers can enjoy the 'masters' work within one satisfying coordinated collection that no aficionado will want to be absent from his or her library of the bizarre. This is the first volume-available in softcover and hardback with dust wrapper for collectors. It contains, of course, the classic novel, 'Dracula' and three shorter pieces, 'Dracula's Guest, ' 'The Squaw' and 'The Burial of the Rats.' Readers unfamiliar with the totality of Stoker's writing are in for a treat-but leave the light on!
