She walks you through near death situations that she never expected her life would become.Growing up in California around the Motown lifestyle of RnB singers she always thought she would be a singer or an actress, have the white picket fence fairytale lifestyle and live happily ever after. Well life was far from that. Instead she kept on running into cycles of abuse that continued to get worse. Every form of abuse you can imagine. Until it all ended. After that life of abuse Jenarda knew that she had to help others to fill the breath of fresh air that she had a chance to feel after moving on. She points out very important steps to take that are helpful for domestic violence and abuse victims to break the cycle. Her hopes is that this book will give courage and hope to victims or even someone that has a friend or relative going through it. Inspire them to break the cycle, like she did and live a happier and healthier life.

Victimization narratives arise out of the experience of historical and ongoing injury, and often intersect or, in part, constitute identity narratives. Unless transformed through reconciliation, these narratives can be used by political leaders to mobilize and perpetuate violence. Victimization narratives are grounded in lived experiences, whether by contemporary generations or passed on from one generation to another as a historical narrative about the prior experience of victimization. Therefore, cycles of violence cannot be ended sustainably unless those narratives are transformed; and first, narratives of victimization and cycles of violence must be disrupted. This is the work of many peace activists in Israel and Palestine whose relationships are built on empathic engagement. This book reviews theories of empathy across a broad range of scholarly work. It then applies a framework of political psychology to understand the role of empathy in the accounts of peace activists whose identities as victims were transformed by their empathic engagement. It includes a chapter providing historical background, and concludes with a consideration of alternative futures for the Israeli and Palestinian people and communities.

Each year in the United States an estimated two to six million women are victims of domestic violence. Domestic violence is a pattern of assaultive and coercive behaviors, including physical, sexual, fi nancial, spiritual and psychological abuse. Domestic violence is about control, manipulation and domination. Ninetyfive percent of assaults on spouses or ex-spouses are committed by men against women. Too afraid and too shame to speak up, there are countless numbers of women sitting in Churches all across America suffering in silence. Victims and perpetrators are from all ages, racial, socioeconomic, sexual orientation, educational, occupational, geographic, and religious groups. If you or someone you know has ever experienced domestic violence you are in need of a personal, life changing encounter with a powerful God. One who delights in healing wounds and setting the captive free. The Exodus is that kind of encounter- its about coming face to face with a Holy God as He does those things that you cannot do for yourself.

Breaking The Cycles Of Hatred written by Martha Minow and has been published by Princeton University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009-01-10 with Law categories.

Violence so often begets violence. Victims respond with revenge only to inspire seemingly endless cycles of retaliation. Conflicts between nations, between ethnic groups, between strangers, and between family members differ in so many ways and yet often share this dynamic. In this powerful and timely book Martha Minow and others ask: What explains these cycles and what can break them? What lessons can we draw from one form of violence that might be relevant to other forms? Can legal responses to violence provide accountability but avoid escalating vengeance? If so, what kinds of legal institutions and practices can make a difference? What kinds risk failure? Breaking the Cycles of Hatred represents a unique blend of political and legal theory, one that focuses on the double-edged role of memory in fueling cycles of hatred and maintaining justice and personal integrity. Its centerpiece comprises three penetrating essays by Minow. She argues that innovative legal institutions and practices, such as truth commissions and civil damage actions against groups that sponsor hate, often work better than more conventional criminal proceedings and sanctions. Minow also calls for more sustained attention to the underlying dynamics of violence, the connections between intergroup and intrafamily violence, and the wide range of possible responses to violence beyond criminalization. A vibrant set of freestanding responses from experts in political theory, psychology, history, and law examines past and potential avenues for breaking cycles of violence and for deepening our capacity to avoid becoming what we hate. The topics include hate crimes and hate-crimes legislation, child sexual abuse and the statute of limitations, and the American kidnapping and internment of Japanese Latin Americans during World War II. Commissioned by Nancy Rosenblum, the essays are by Ross E. Cheit, Marc Galanter, Fredrick C. Harris, Judith Lewis Herman, Carey Jaros, Frederick M. Lawrence, Austin Sarat, Ayelet Shachar, Eric K. Yamamoto, and Iris Marion Young.

The authors in this volume explore the interconnected issues of intergenerational trauma and traumatic memory in societies with a history of collective violence across the globe. Each chapter’s discussion offers a critical reflection on historical trauma and its repercussions, and how memory can be used as a basis for dialogue and transformation. The perspectives include, among others: the healing journey of three generations of a family of Holocaust survivors and their dialogue with third generation German students over time; traumatic memories of the British concentration camps in South Africa; reparations and reconciliation in the context of the historical trauma of Aboriginal Australians; and the use of the arts as a strategy of dialogue and transformation.

The just peace movement offers a critical shift in focus and imagination. Recognizing that all life is sacred and seeking peace through violence is unsustainable, the just peace approach turns our attention to rehumanization, participatory processes, nonviolent resistance, restorative justice, reconciliation, racial justice, and creative strategies of active nonviolence to build sustainable peace, transform conflict, and end cycles of violence. A Just Peace Ethic Primer illuminates a moral framework behind this praxis and proves its versatility in global contexts. With essays by a diverse group of scholars, A Just Peace Ethic Primer outlines the ethical, theological, and activist underpinnings of a just peace ethic. These essays also demonstrate and revise the norms of a just peace ethic through conflict cases involving US immigration, racial and environmental justice, and the death penalty, as well as gang violence in El Salvador, civil war in South Sudan, ISIS in Iraq, gender-based violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo, women-led activism in the Philippines, and ethnic violence in Kenya. A Just Peace Ethic Primer exemplifies the ecumenical, interfaith, and multicultural aspects of a nonviolent approach to preventing and transforming violent conflict. Scholars, advocates, and activists working in politics, history, international law, philosophy, theology, and conflict resolution will find this resource vital for providing a fruitful framework and implementing a creative vision of sustainable peace.
