"This book, in eleven short chapters, raises foundational questions that we must deal with in our quest for justice - questions such as, Who owns creation? Who is my neighbor? What is fair share? As we reflect on these, we get a glimpse of justice that is larger than our private concerns, yet embraces them, too. "In the final analysis," says the author, "justice is not so much an obligation as a gift. It is [an] ... opportunity to take part in God's loving care for the world, to assist God in making the world everything it was meant to be.""--BOOK JACKET.Title Summary field provided by Blackwell North America, Inc. The years of “reconstruction” in the South were many times a facade and only appeared to enforce the statutory policies of Reconstruction imposed by the Union. It wasn’t until Theodore Roosevelt became president of the United States that the tragedies of the Southern blacks and the lies fabricated to cover them up would even come to light. And even then, there would be little to no resistance. The Civil War had literally taken the fight out of the North, so both status quo and complacency ruled the early part of the century. The rise of the American worker would begin, and another form of slavery would rise for whites and blacks alike. That story, like the stories of cyber operations and social media we’ll leave for another time. For now, we’ll stay within the framework of the late 1800s, and we’ll have to realize that there had to be a means by which these evolutionary “scientific” experiments could be enforced. It was here that much of U.S. law enforcement in the South was manipulated, and a noble occupation sold out to the highest bidder. Because in the end, as it was in the beginning, it was indeed all about money. Dave Henderman offers a bold primer on culture, cultural relations, and discrimination in America from a Christian and Biblical worldview. Prevailing thought on race, ethnicity and discrimination in American society has degraded into opposing factions and camps. In a penetrating critique of all sides, Dave probes the cultural paradigm that has developed since Reconstruction and the Jim Crow segregated South. The reader will gain an insight into all aspects of cultural relations in America along with a possible way forward into the future, unified with brothers and sisters in Christ of every skin color. For the concerned citizen with a pure heart, reading this series will be a good start! Colonel Mark Kerry, USA, Retired

Renowned pastor and bestselling author of The Prodigal Prophet Timothy Keller shares his most provocative and illuminating message yet. It is commonly thought in secular society that the Bible is one of the greatest hindrances to doing justice. Isn’t it full of regressive views? Didn’t it condone slavery? Why look to the Bible for guidance on how to have a more just society? But Timothy Keller challenges these preconceived beliefs and presents the Bible as a fundamental source for promoting justice and compassion for those in need. In Generous Justice, he explores a life of justice empowered by an experience of grace: a generous, gracious justice. This book offers readers a new understanding of modern justice and human rights that will resonate with both the faithful and the skeptical.

Due Process written by Daniel C. Juster and has been published by WestBow Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-12-18 with Religion categories.

We read of the Messiah in Isaiah 42He will bring forth justice for truth. He will not fail nor be discouraged, till He has established justice in the earth; and the coastlands shall wait for His law. If what these verses describe is the orientation of Jesus, it should be ours as well. If justice is to be established on the earth, His followers must be a community of love and justice. Since the first publication of this book in the early 1990s, we still have not seen a shift in the Body on the issues of character standards, congregational discipline, due process, and discipleship. Dallas Willard and others have written passionately about discipleship and its foundation in obeying the commandments of Jesus. Yet discipleship is rare, and the definition of love as indulgence is increasing. Love itself is wrongly defined, along with forgiveness, leading the indulging people into sin. May God use this book to make some contribution toward the path of righteousness.

Justice written by Nicholas Wolterstorff and has been published by Princeton University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010-04-12 with Religion categories.

Wide-ranging and ambitious, Justice combines moral philosophy and Christian ethics to develop an important theory of rights and of justice as grounded in rights. Nicholas Wolterstorff discusses what it is to have a right, and he locates rights in the respect due the worth of the rights-holder. After contending that socially-conferred rights require the existence of natural rights, he argues that no secular account of natural human rights is successful; he offers instead a theistic account. Wolterstorff prefaces his systematic account of justice as grounded in rights with an exploration of the common claim that rights-talk is inherently individualistic and possessive. He demonstrates that the idea of natural rights originated neither in the Enlightenment nor in the individualistic philosophy of the late Middle Ages, but was already employed by the canon lawyers of the twelfth century. He traces our intuitions about rights and justice back even further, to Hebrew and Christian scriptures. After extensively discussing justice in the Old Testament and the New, he goes on to show why ancient Greek and Roman philosophy could not serve as a framework for a theory of rights. Connecting rights and wrongs to God's relationship with humankind, Justice not only offers a rich and compelling philosophical account of justice, but also makes an important contribution to overcoming the present-day divide between religious discourse and human rights.

The Uniqueness Of The Bible written by Larry Siekawitch and has been published by WestBow Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-12-09 with Religion categories.

How do we know what is true about God and religion? Ultimately this question boils down to whether we consider our supreme authority to be tradition or revelation. In The Uniqueness of the Bible, author Dr. Larry Siekawitch explains that self and tradition fail as final arbiters of truth because humans are both finite and sinfulincapable of supplying truth without error. But if God has revealed His truth by revelation in such a way that is completely trustworthy and without error, then that revelation is the obvious candidate for supreme authority because it is God Himself speaking. God has revealed Himself and His ways in the Bible, but how can we convince Jews, Muslims, Catholics, and Mormons of this wonderful fact? We do so by simply showing them the uniqueness of the Bible and convincing them of Gods ultimate authority. This study deals with the Hebrew Scriptures and demonstrates how reliable and miraculous they are. It then compares the Bible to the Koran, particularly focusing on the New Testament and its amazing supernatural nature. Finally, The Uniqueness of the Bible examines Roman Catholicisms exaltation of tradition to equality with Scripture and the Mormon addition of the Book of Mormon. This study seeks to present convincing evidence in order to help people see the superiority of the Bible to all other means of discovering spiritual truth.
