He had grown up, hearing that his father's ancestral home is "The Giant of Africa" tagged with the emblem of a majestic: Eagle; the bird. Sadly for Pete, as a teen and a young adult in England; he had received jibes and taunts from friends and peers, referring the same as: "An Eagle that will not fly" The contrast appeared irreconcilable to him. Then he decided to mobilise his talent and skills as an investigative journalist; to navigate the truth and do the fact checks. He did so to rebuff or confirm the divergent assertions in the public domain. He had long period, to bring the truth to listeners who were interested to know the root of the problem. He confirmed with credible evidence; that the highly populated country, that he could trace his roots, had an incredible "faulty foundation". He also agreed that the success of any country does not reliably depend on its size or numbers. "The faulty foundation", expatiated in his Study and Research, was major in the retardation of the growth and meaningful development of the country; despite its size and unsustainable grand name: "The Giant of Africa."

Winner of IPPY gold, a Historical Novels Review Editor's Choice and an All About Romance Desert Island Keeper, Judith James' breathtaking Broken Wing is the poignant story of a complex man, bitterly wounded by life, who finds self-worth through love. Abandoned as a child and raised in a brothel, Gabriel St.Croix has never known family, friendship, or affection. Hiding physical and emotional scars behind an icy facade, his only bond is with the young boy he has spent the last five years protecting from the brutal reality that surrounds them. But all that is about to change. The boy's family has found him and they are coming to take him home. Sarah Munroe blames herself for her brother's disappearance. When he's located safe and unharmed despite where he's been living, she vows to aid the man who rescued him in any way she can. She helps Gabriel face his demons and teaches him to trust in friendship and in love - but when the past catches up with him, he must face it on his own. As a mercenary, pirate, and professional gambler, Gabriel travels to London, France, and the Barbary Coast in a desperate attempt to find Sarah again and all he knows of love - but on the way he will discover that the most dangerous journey and the greatest gamble of all - lies within the darkest regions of his own heart. Warning Gabriel's journey from a man who knows nothing of friendship or affection to a man who is able to love and accept love is a hero's journey, though not, perhaps, one typical of most romances. I've tried to give an honest portrayal of the problems and issues many who survive cruelty and abuse confront, and as a result, it may be too dark and edgy for some readers and it may not appeal to those looking for a lighter read. Those who like raw-edged emotion and intense romance spiced with high adventure, exotic locales, and an extra dollop of history, will I hope, be in for a treat. Like most of us, Gabriel and Sarah are flawed characters trying to do their best, and I dare you not to fall in love with them."

Unbeknownst to them, the greatest threat to Remy is one they can’t fight—God himself. The Almighty dispatches Remy far beyond their reach, to an alternate universe where there has been an apocalyptic catastrophe: the Unification. Only as he hunts down the source of this calamity, it becomes clearer and clearer that the person responsible for the tragedy may have been none other than Remy himself. And while he searches for a way to stop his world from following in the footsteps of the doomed alternate reality, enemies are massing in his universe. For the Unification is at hand and, this time, Remy may be powerless to affect its outcome…

While large numbers of aeroplanes had been produced In America for the war effort overseas at the Western Front, it was found that that the British, French and Germans were far ahead of them when it came to flight technology, which led to a huge surplus of aeroplanes in the United States. The government’s solution to recover some of the money was to sell the surplus stock off for as little as $200 dollars each. With no licence being required to fly a plane, the offer attracted many ex-fighter pilots as well as civilians, who developed a new American pastime known as barnstorming. Part entertainers, part thrill-seekers, the barnstormers made their way across the country as solo acts and in groups called 'Flying Circuses'. The American flier Ormer Locklear wowed the crowds by climbing out of his aeroplane and walk along the wing, and it wasn’t long before flying circuses held less appeal for spectators if it didn’t have a wing-walking act. Handstands, jumps across planes, and even the odd game of tennis were attempted by barnstormers to attract larger paying audiences. In 1936, the US Government banned wing-walking under 1,500 ft, which doomed aerial stunting, and while a few wing-walking teams operated in the 1970s, it wasn’t until barnstormer Vic Norman founded his famous AeroSuperBatics wing-walking team in the early 1980s that the sight of daredevils hand-standing and flying upside down on the wing was seen in Europe. Several teams around the world subsequently formed using aeroplanes such as the Boeing Stearman or the Curtiss 'Jenny' biplanes to wow crowds as a part of regular air displays, and their appeal has continued to rise since the 2000s.

Kevin J. Anderson's sequel to Spine of The Dragon brings bitter rivalry and blood feud—that might be the downfall of the human kingdoms. Two continents at war, the Three Kingdoms and Ishara, have been in conflict for a thousand years. But when an outside threat arises—the reawakening of a powerful ancient race that wants to remake the world—the two warring nations must somehow set aside generations of hatred to form an alliance against a far more deadly enemy. Book One awakened the great dragon, and set the kingdoms at each other’s throats. In Book Two, Vengewar, the Three Kingdoms are shattering under pressure from an inexperienced new King who is being led by an ambitious regent to ignore the threat of the Wreths, in favor of a Vengewar with Ishara. His brother and uncle can see only the danger of the Older Race. In Ishara, the queen lies in a coma, while an ambitious priest seizes power. But he has neither the training nor the talent to rule a nation— or even a city. Ishara is in deadly peril, and the Wreths have not even appeared on their continent. As scientific analysis of testable hypotheses has replaced the speculative approach to study of bone disease in recent and fossil amphibians and reptiles, the field has advanced from simply reporting observations to analyzing their implications. This process is predicated upon a reproducible data base which explains/diagnoses the nature of bony alterations and a secure review of the literature. Thereby hangs the rub. The herpetological literature are difficult to access (let alone read) and are scattered through many prominent and eclectic journals and in the lay literature. While older diagnoses often have not stood the test of time, the clarity of report descriptions usually allows confident identification of the underlying pathology.

The stories, myths and legends associated with more than 80 kinds of birds from around the world. Why are owls regarded either as wise or as harbingers of doom? What gave rise to the fanciful belief that storks bring babies? Why is the eagle associated with victory or the hummingbird with paradise? The answers are here in this engaging book. By re-telling the many legends, beliefs, proverbs and predictions associated with more than 80 birds from many nations, it brings into focus the close – and often ancient – links between humans and these remarkable feathered descendants of dinosaurs. Discover, for instance: - Why the cockerel features on many church spires - The one sacred bird that symbolises life and peace in most cultures - How to dispel bad luck if you see a certain black-and-white bird - The South American 'devil bird' once thought to be a dragon Birds: Myth, Lore and Legend draws on historical accounts and scientific literature to reveal how colourful tales or superstitions were shaped by human imagination based on each bird's behaviour or appearance. It offers a fresh and enchanting perspective on birds across the world.
