"The United Kingdom is one of the most attractive destinations for tourists worldwide. In 2017, a new record was set for inbound tourism to the UK that recorded 39.2 million visits and represented ℗Đ24.5 billion in spending by visitors (VisitBritain 2018b). According to VisitBritain (2017), 260,000 Chinese tourists visited the UK and their total expenditure was ℗Đ500 million. As reported across the UK media, the top UK tourist destination is Buckingham Palace in London. Amazingly, the second most popular destination for tourists from China is Bicester Village, a fashion outlet shopping center in Oxfordshire. Even a long-haul flight (approximately twelve hours one way for direct service between China and UK) and increased visa application fees do not appear to be dampening Chinese tourists' appetite to visit the UK, and tourist itineraries often include at least one shopping trip to Bicester Village. This case helps students to understand Chinese luxury consumers, luxury consumption in emerging markets, and the purchase behavior of international visitors (tourists) in the UK. Also, it asks students to analyze the strategy of this fashion outlet in various markets (for example, the UK and mainland China) and the performance of the relevant strategy varies in a different cultural context (for example, Bicester Village vs. Suzhou and Shanghai Village). Furthermore, this case explains how the luxury retailing landscape has continually been changing in recently decades."--Bloomsbury Publishing.

The New York Times bestseller from the author of Watchmen and V for Vendetta finally appears in a one-volume paperback. Begging comparisons to Tolstoy and Joyce, this “magnificent, sprawling cosmic epic” (Guardian) by Alan Moore—the genre-defying, “groundbreaking, hairy genius of our generation” (NPR)—takes its place among the most notable works of contemporary English literature. In decaying Northampton, eternity loiters between housing projects. Among saints, kings, prostitutes, and derelicts, a timeline unravels: second-century fiends wait in urine-scented stairwells, delinquent specters undermine a century with tunnels, and in upstairs parlors, laborers with golden blood reduce fate to a snooker tournament. Through the labyrinthine streets and pages of Jerusalem tread ghosts singing hymns of wealth and poverty. They celebrate the English language, challenge mortality post-Einstein, and insist upon their slum as Blake’s eternal holy city in “Moore’s apotheosis, a fourth-dimensional symphony” (Entertainment Weekly). This “brilliant . . . monumentally ambitious” tale from the gutter is “a massive literary achievement for our time—and maybe for all times simultaneously” (Washington Post).

Lark Rise By Flora Thompson The last words are true of the hamlet of Lark Rise. Because they were still an organic community, subsisting on the food, however scanty and monotonous, they raised themselves, they enjoyed good health and so, in spite of grinding poverty, no money to spend on amusements and hardly any for necessities, happiness. They still sang out-of-doors and kept May Day and Harvest Home. The songs were travesties of the traditional ones, but their blurred echoes and the remnants of the old salty country speech had not yet died and left the fields to their modern silence. The songs came from their own lips, not out of a box.

Thrust into the global spotlight on her engagement to Prince William, Kate wore a sapphire blue wrap dress by London-based label Issa that promptly sold out. It was the first step in Kate's evolution to become the modern royal style icon she is today – the Duchess of Cambridge. In the decade since, Kate has become the Duchess of Cambridge, a future Queen and a mother of three. Her outfits range from high street to haute couture, with women worldwide fascinated by her style and eager to copy it. The Duchess has used her clothing to make diplomatic gestures, to send messages of solidarity and to show respect. One day, her wardrobe underscores her status as a senior royal; the next it's all about being just like any 30-something Mum. But thanks to an explosion of 24/7 news coverage and social media, her choices are analysed more closely than those of any royal before. In this book, Bethan Holt marks the tenth anniversary of Kate's royal life by taking readers on a highly illustrated journey through the Duchess's style evolution.
