Lord, please continue to have mercy on humanity. You have made provisions for everything we need in this world and the world to come. Yet many people although desire good life, are suffering, some are confused, others are desperate, families are broken down, our nation is struggling to cope, many people are lost in spiritual matters and sin. In this book, the author's main argument is that God, in his unfailing love for humanity, has already provided what people are frantically seeking in life. What people need to do is to turn to the Holy Scriptures for guidance. This book can be of such help. You see, when life is calm, our foundations don't seem to matter. But when crisis come, our foundations are tested. In this book, the author also argues that it is a waste of time and effort for people to build their lives on a faulty foundation. Jesus describes God's principles as a solid foundation for people to build their lives on. We are strangers in this world; therefore we need someone who knows the journey of life to guide us. God is the creator of this world, and He alone knows the in and out of this world. His principles provide guidance for a perfect life. The attempts by some groups of people to suppress the knowledge of God in the society have not been very helpful in many ways, although they could not succeed. For example, these people could not provide the society with any viable alternative guiding principles on how people should live their lives. This has led many people to turn to wrong sources for guidance, sometimes with very little success or no success at all leading to a life of despair, hopelessness, and failure. Because of this suppression of God's word, there seems to be famine in our society, famine of truth, famine of the word of God. There is also darkness in our society, many people are confused and some do not know what to do with their lives. But the word of God is light, its gives understanding, it gives hope, it provides guidance on spiritual matters, the salvation of the human soul, and solutions to all our problems. Sometimes, life is easier and beautiful if you know what to do in any situation you find yourself. Many people desire a good family life, peace, joy, hope, self discipline, strength, encouragement, a connection with 'a higher being' that transcends human existence and meaning to life in their spiritual quest. Genesis provides the foundation of God's people by showing how the gracious, almighty Sovereign Lord God created the world and loving set his affection on his people through an everlasting promise. This book is an attempt to help believers build their lives on a solid foundation. Genesis provides the beginning framework of how God created, called and cared for his people. As Christians understand the great legacy of God's faithfulness to his people, they will understand that Israel's story is ultimately their story as well. God's people were built on a promise. That promise was fulfilled in the life, death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. If Christians want to build their life on a solid foundation, they should start at the beginning. Understanding love is the key element of successful marriages, long-lasting friendships, a caring society, and the sharing of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Without the clear understanding of its meaning, anger, hate, hostility, un-forgiveness and resentment will attach themselves like leeches and viruses to the fabric of our society. These parasites could cause divorces, wars, contentions, divisions, and other ills that contribute to the destruction of lives, and to putting society on a roller coaster ride. In Matthew chapter 24, the disciples asked Jesus about what signs to look for as we approach the time of His return. He explained to them about the wars, divisions, hate, etc., that will escalate because of the erosion of love in the final days on earth. We are witnessing and experiencing these occurrences daily in our life's journey. It seems as if love has been totally swallowed up by hate and selfish ambitions all around us. According to the 1998 United Nations Census on religions, there were about 23,000 Christian denominations at that time, and they all believe somewhat differently. Jesus said that a divided house will never stand (Luke 11:17). From Old Testament times to this present time, the people of God have always focused more on formulating their own self-centered and exclusive doctrines, denominations and cliques, and have ignored the true inclusive message and gospel of the love of God. That is why the religious leaders did not recognize or receive Jesus when He first came. If Christ should appear today preaching the gospel, He would still not be recognized or received by many Christians. A lack of the understanding love will cause spiritual amnesia and vision impairment. I am not advocating a one-world church, but a unified message of the Gospel of God (Romans 1:1-3). Many Christians are divided by race, color, denomination, social standing, economic status, skin shade, hair texture, culture, and region, just to name a few. Racial, social, and class discrimination is practiced by many misled people of every racial and cultural groups across the world. We have condemned sin and sinners, and blamed them for the demoralization of our society. We have also blamed them for the pending doom of our nations. We must realize that if they are sinners, we should not expect examples of righteous living emanating from them. That is why we must take the Gospel of Salvation to them in love so that they could also be changed. We have the answer; Jesus Christ. We should also realize that many Christians who claimed to be changed find it difficult to live righteously. Keep in mind, that the Bible said that judgment must first begin with us in the house of the Lord. At the end of this study you will see clearly that there is only one kind of love, that is, the God-kind-of-love. Love is the Foundation of the Gospel and the Gateway to Heaven, and love could only be truly proven in the face of adversity.
