Organized into three sections (history, current tools and concepts, and existing efforts and research issues), this resource provides the field of building product modeling with a standard reference as well as a single, comprehensive text for university courses. Until now, all the efforts in building modeling have been reported in research journals and conference proceedings or been made available as draft standards on the Internet. Building Product Models is the only book available on this vital field, bringing together essential aspects of major efforts from the early 1970s to the present.

Discover BIM: A better way to build better buildings Building Information Modeling (BIM) offers a novel approach to design, construction, and facility management in which a digital representation of the building product and process is used to facilitate the exchange and interoperability of information in digital format. BIM is beginning to change the way buildings look, the way they function, and the ways in which they are designed and built. The BIM Handbook, Third Edition provides an in-depth understanding of BIM technologies, the business and organizational issues associated with its implementation, and the profound advantages that effective use of BIM can provide to all members of a project team. Updates to this edition include: Information on the ways in which professionals should use BIM to gain maximum value New topics such as collaborative working, national and major construction clients, BIM standards and guides A discussion on how various professional roles have expanded through the widespread use and the new avenues of BIM practices and services A wealth of new case studies that clearly illustrate exactly how BIM is applied in a wide variety of conditions Painting a colorful and thorough picture of the state of the art in building information modeling, the BIM Handbook, Third Edition guides readers to successful implementations, helping them to avoid needless frustration and costs and take full advantage of this paradigm-shifting approach to construct better buildings that consume fewer materials and require less time, labor, and capital resources.

Constructing The Future written by Ghassan Aouad and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2006-12-05 with Technology & Engineering categories.

This essential book introduces the concept of nD modelling, which takes the theory of computer modelling of the built environment to n dimensions. nD modelling utilizes a decision support tool for systematic assessment and comparison between various design parameters such as cost, accessibility, maintainability, sustainability, crime, energy, whole life costing, acoustics and scheduling among others. Constructing the Future is a comprehensive book which provides a global perspective on the concept of nD modelling and examines its impact on construction, from development to application. The text offers a critique of competing views that seek to justify (or ignore) the role of nD modelling in the future of construction as well as describing developments in this area which are already happening worldwide. Presenting a thorough critique of competing views as well as providing guidance on best practice, Constructing the Future is a bold, well-grounded and illustrated title introducing construction management professionals and researchers to this exciting new development in the quest for a single building and product model.

Building Models For Marketing Decisions written by Peter S.H. Leeflang and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-06-29 with Business & Economics categories.

This book is about marketing models and the process of model building. Our primary focus is on models that can be used by managers to support marketing decisions. It has long been known that simple models usually outperform judgments in predicting outcomes in a wide variety of contexts. For example, models of judgments tend to provide better forecasts of the outcomes than the judgments themselves (because the model eliminates the noise in judgments). And since judgments never fully reflect the complexities of the many forces that influence outcomes, it is easy to see why models of actual outcomes should be very attractive to (marketing) decision makers. Thus, appropriately constructed models can provide insights about structural relations between marketing variables. Since models explicate the relations, both the process of model building and the model that ultimately results can improve the quality of marketing decisions. Managers often use rules of thumb for decisions. For example, a brand manager will have defined a specific set of alternative brands as the competitive set within a product category. Usually this set is based on perceived similarities in brand characteristics, advertising messages, etc. If a new marketing initiative occurs for one of the other brands, the brand manager will have a strong inclination to react. The reaction is partly based on the manager's desire to maintain some competitive parity in the mar keting variables.

Enhanced Building Information Models written by Umit Isikdag and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-10-01 with Computers categories.

This book explains how to combine and exploit sensor networks and internet-of-things (IoT) technologies and Web-service design patterns to enrich and integrate Building Information Models (BIMs). It provides approaches and software architectures for facilitating the interaction with (and between) BIMs through Web services, and for enabling and facilitating the fusion of the information residing in such models or of information acquired from IoT technologies. The proposed software architectures are presented in the form of design patterns. This information fusion will facilitate many novel application fields ranging from emergency response, to urban monitoring and surveillance, and to smart buildings. The book consists of 8 chapters. The first 2 chapters focus on the basics of BIMs, while chapter 3 presents fundamental service-oriented architecture patterns for complex information models. Subsequently, chapters 4 and 5 elaborate on the hardware and software side of IoT, with a special focus on their use for BIMs. Chapter 6 provides advanced SOA patterns for BIMs, while chapter 7 details patterns for IoT, and for BIM and IoT information fusion. Lastly, chapter 8 summarizes the work and provides an outlook on promising future developments. Overall, the book will be beneficial for researchers and developers in the fields of building information models, IoT applications, and systems integration.

Advances in computer-aided design have proven to be an invaluable tool for the architect and designer, yet Frank Gehry still begins his creative process by making "simple" models out of modest materials. Drawings and video, while an essential part of the design process, are still not substitutes for the tactile sensation one receives from a scale model. Drawing on 20 years experience in art and architecture, the author has developed this book on model making as it applies to students and professionals of the built environment. More than 300 photographs illustrate a multitude of techniques and the use of a wide variety of materials, providing a solid foundation for students and professionals to create and enjoy three-dimensional model making for interior design, architecture, landscape architecture, furniture design, theatrical design, and retail merchandising.

This book presents how Building Information Modeling (BIM) and the use of shared representation of built assets facilitate design, construction and operation processes (ISO 19650). The modeling of public works data disrupts the art of construction. Written by both academics and engineers who are heavily involved in the French research project Modélisation des INformations INteropérables pour les INfrastructues Durables (MINnD) as well as in international standardization projects, this book presents the challenges of BIM from theoretical and practical perspectives. It provides knowledge for evolving in an ecosystem of federated models and common data environments, which are the basis of the platforms and data spaces. BIM makes it possible to handle interoperability very concretely, using open standards, which lead to openBIM. The use of a platform allows for the merging of business software and for approaches such as a Geographic Information System (GIS) to be added to the processes. In organizations, BIM meets the life cycles of structures and circular economy. It is not only a technique that reshapes cooperation and trades around a digital twin but can also disrupt organizations and business models.
