Dewasa ini, arsitektur telah mengalami perkembangan yang begitu pesat khususnya dalam metode perancangan dan produksi desain serta gambar kerja yang ditujukan untuk konstruksi. Perkembangan tersebut akhir-akhir ini mengarah kepada perkembangan arsitektur dengan bantuan atau metode dijital yang dapat menyelesaikan proyek perencanaan arsitek semakin mudah, cepat, dan komprehensif mengingat masa lalu perkembangan arsitektur khususnya dalam metode perancangan dan produksi desain serta gambar kerja merupakan sebuah pekerjaan yang menyita waktu dan melelahkan. Metode BIM (Building Information Modeling) diperkenalkan sebagai solusi hal tersebut. Metode BIM dianggap mampu menyelesaikan proyek perencanaan arsitektur menjadi semakin cepat dan membuat arsitek menjadi lebih produktif dalam bekerja. Modul praktikum komputer untuk mata kuliah BIM 1 ini bertujuan untuk memudahkan mahasiswa tingkat 2 mampu memahami dan mempraktekkan kemampuan perancangan arsitektur menggunakan metode dijital. Diharapkan dengan penyelenggaraan praktikum komputer ini dengan topik khusus BIM, mahasiswa mampu menerapkannya pada mata kuliah Studio Desain Arsitektur sebagai mata kuliah utama dari program studi arsitektur ITSB sehingga mahasiswa mampu bekerja lebih produktif. Praktikum BIM 1 ini berfokus pada pengenalan BIM secara umum dan akan membahas BIM dari level paling bawah. Buku Ajar Dasar-dasar Building Information Modeling Level 0-1 ini akan membahas tentang penggunaan AutoCAD dan Sketchup sebagai program arsitektur paling mendasar yang dianggap sebagai BIM level yang paling bawah (level 0-1). Buku Ajar Dasar-dasar Building Information Modeling Level 0-1 ini terdiri dari 9 Bab yang akan mengarahkan mahasiswa untuk memahami teknik-teknik penguasaan AutoCAD dan Sketchup untuk merancang dan memproduksi gambar arsitektur mulai dari pengenalan program mendasar sampai kepada tips dan trik penguasaan program komputer lanjut. Namun demikian, pada pelaksanaannya, mahasiswa diharapkan untuk mengembangkan secara mandiri penguasaan software dan berperan aktif dalam kegiatan praktikum karena mengingat keterbatasan waktu perkuliahan.
