Este livro nasceu a partir de minha pesquisa de doutorado no Programa stricto sensu em Ensino em Biociências e Saúde (PGEBS), do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz (IOC), Fundação Oswaldo Cruz (Fiocruz), a partir da constatação do número, ainda reduzido, de produções voltadas para o público com TEA (Transtorno do Espectro Autista) nos eventos de ensino de Ciências. A educação especial inclusiva reafirma o direito de todos à Educação, perante a Constituição Federal de 1988, como traz o artigo 205: “A educação, direito de todos e dever do Estado e da família, será promovida e incentivada com a colaboração da sociedade, visando ao pleno desenvolvimento da pessoa, seu preparo para o exercício da cidadania e sua qualificação para o trabalho”, reafirmando ainda com o artigo 208, em que se estabelece o direito de as pessoas com necessidades educacionais específicas receberem educação, preferencialmente, na rede regular de ensino (inciso III do artigo 208 da CF), “visando à plena integração dessas pessoas em todas as áreas da sociedade e o direito à educação, comum a todas as pessoas, por meio de uma educação inclusiva, em escola de ensino regular, como forma de assegurar o mais plenamente possível o direito de integração na sociedade”.
