Alberto Calderon was one of the leading mathematicians of the twentieth century. His fundamental, pioneering work reshaped the landscape of mathematical analysis. This volume presents a wide selection from some of Calderon's most influential papers. They range from singular integrals to partial differential equations, from interpolation theory to Cauchy integrals on Lipschitz curves, from inverse problems to ergodic theory. The depth, originality, and historical impact of these works are vividly illustrated by the accompanying commentaries by some of today's leading figures in analysis. In addition, two biographical chapters preface the volume. They discuss Alberto Calderon's early life and his mathematical career.

This is a book written primarily for graduate students and early researchers in the fields of Analysis and Partial Differential Equations (PDEs). Coverage of the material is essentially self-contained, extensive and novel with great attention to details and rigour. The strength of the book primarily lies in its clear and detailed explanations, scope and coverage, highlighting and presenting deep and profound inter-connections between different related and seemingly unrelated disciplines within classical and modern mathematics and above all the extensive collection of examples, worked-out and hinted exercises. There are well over 700 exercises of varying level leading the reader from the basics to the most advanced levels and frontiers of research. The book can be used either for independent study or for a year-long graduate level course. In fact it has its origin in a year-long graduate course taught by the author in Oxford in 2004-5 and various parts of it in other institutions later on. A good number of distinguished researchers and faculty in mathematics worldwide have started their research career from the course that formed the basis for this book.

Wavelets And Operators written by Yves Meyer and has been published by Cambridge University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1992 with Mathematical analysis categories.

Over the last two years wavelet methods have shown themselves to be of considerable use to harmonic analysts and in particular advances, have been made concerning their applications. The strength of wavelet methods lies in their ability to describe local phenomena more accurately than a traditional expansion in sines and cosines can. Thus wavelets are ideal in many fields where an approach to transient behaviour is needed; for example, in considering acoustic or seismic signals, or in image processing. Yves Meyer stands the theory of wavelets firmly upon solid ground in the shape of the fundamental work of Calderon, Zygmund and their collaborators. For anyone who would like an introduction to wavelets, this book will prove to be a necessary purchase.

To summarize briefly, this book is devoted to an exposition of the foundations of pseudo differential equations theory in non-smooth domains. The elements of such a theory already exist in the literature and can be found in such papers and monographs as [90,95,96,109,115,131,132,134,135,136,146, 163,165,169,170,182,184,214-218]. In this book, we will employ a theory that is based on quite different principles than those used previously. However, precisely one of the standard principles is left without change, the "freezing of coefficients" principle. The first main difference in our exposition begins at the point when the "model problem" appears. Such a model problem for differential equations and differential boundary conditions was first studied in a fundamental paper of V. A. Kondrat'ev [134]. Here also the second main difference appears, in that we consider an already given boundary value problem. In some transformations this boundary value problem was reduced to a boundary value problem with a parameter . -\ in a domain with smooth boundary, followed by application of the earlier results of M. S. Agranovich and M. I. Vishik. In this context some operator-function R('-\) appears, and its poles prevent invertibility; iffor differential operators the function is a polynomial on A, then for pseudo differential operators this dependence on . -\ cannot be defined. Ongoing investigations of different model problems are being carried out with approximately this plan, both for differential and pseudodifferential boundary value problems.
