Ne è nato questo volume, a cura di Rino Caputo, che raccoglie gli atti del convegno svoltosi a Latina il 5 e 6 ottobre del 2018: un viaggio lungo gli argini di Canale Mussolini, le cui acque raccontano un'epoca, quella vissuta all'insegna del regime fascista, secondo l'ottica di una prospettiva «interna» (Roberta Colombi, Mia Fuller); un viaggio attraverso la tradizione orale del filò, su cui tanto si basa il racconto di Pennacchi, ma anche attraverso gli echi letterari di cui si nutrono la sua lingua e la sua narrazione (Marco Santagata, Valeria Della Valle, Giuseppe Patota, John Thornton); un viaggio nelle terre dell'Agro Pontino, «redente» dalla bonifica voluta dal Duce, e nell'architettura del Ventennio (Massimo Onofri, Gino De Vecchis, Giorgio Villa, Marco Romano); un viaggio attraverso l'«epica del quotidiano» (Giulio Ferroni) della famiglia Peruzzi, con i suoi personaggi scultorei e spesso sanguigni (Elisa Manca); un viaggio, infine, alla scoperta dell'intera opera di Antonio Pennacchi (Leopoldo Gamberale, Lucio Caracciolo, Marco Petreschi) e degli echi da essa suscitati nei Paesi in cui Canale Mussolini e Canale Mussolini.
