The Hollywood press loved to refer to Capucine as a modern day Cinderella. She was a gorgeous French girl who had success written all over her. In Paris, she began modeling for Givenchy and Dior in the late 1940s. In the summer of 1956, Capucine was bored and decided to give New York a try. While there, she caught the eye of Charles K. Feldman, one of the most prestigious agents in Hollywood. He signed her to a contract and 'Cap' was off to California to learn English and acting. She first co-starred in "Song Without End" a film about the pianist Franz Liszt. Her second effort was a wild, gold rush adventure tale 'North To Alaska' with John Wayne. Then, with Barbara Stanwyck, she made the controversial movie "Walk On The Wild Side" shot in the French Quarter of New Orleans. Her fourth film was "The Pink Panther' with Peter Sellers, David Niven, Robert Wagner, and Claudia Cardinale. Capucine played Inspector Clouseau's cheating, scheming wife Simone. Directors loved having Capucine in their pictures because she had a fabulous sense of humor and rivaled David Niven for side-splitting practical jokes. At the same time, she was a true professional on the set. Capucine made thirty-six films and was involved in seventeen TV productions, but because of birth problems, her love life went poorly and even her best friend Audrey Hepburn couldn't save her.

Capucine, one of the most iconic beauties of her time is dead. Her only survivors were her three feline friends, Oceane, Cheyenne and Tutalou. They hear from gossip Camille that they are to be put to sleep and their ashes cast to the wind because they are too old to be found a new home. Left alone in their Lausanne penthouse they contemplate their fate and set about planning their escape. While waiting for the opportunity to arise they reminisce about their adventures with Capucine and her lifelong fight with bipolar and philosophize about the complexities and peculiarities of the Human Condition and despair at mankind's indifference to sufferers of mental illness. A bittersweet tale of love, laughter and affection set to the background of the Swiss lakeside city of Lausanne and splendour of Provence."

"Devotees of G.M. Malliet and Charles Todd will enjoy this different and delicious series." --Booklist Commissaire Capucine Le Tellier and her husband, a renowned restaurant critic, are frequent and privileged guests of Paris's cultured society. Unfortunately, a more refined milieu doesn't keep unsavory behavior like murder off the menu. . . When the body of acclaimed Chef Jean-Louis Brault and a shotgun are discovered in an antique Louis Vuitton portemanteau, the general consensus is suicide. Brault had been understandably distraught, if not quite unhinged, amidst rumors that his restaurant La Mère Denis might lose its rare third Michelin star. But when Capucine investigates the scene of the crime, she doesn't think it's only the boulliabaisse that smells fishy. And when Le Monde suggests that Capucine's investigation is a cover up for the lethal consequences of food critics everywhere--a profession in which her husband takes great pride--she will stop at nothing to solve the case. Praise for Alexander Campion and the Capucine Culinary Mysteries "Riveting gastronomic mystery. . . Readers will want a second helping." --Publishers Weekly on The Grave Gourmet "Steeped in Parisian culture and class structure. . .this mystery makes for a fine getaway read." --Library Journal on Killer Critique

This work covers 840 intentional suicide cases initially reported in Daily Variety (the entertainment industry's trade journal), but also drawing attention from mainstream news media. These cases are taken from the ranks of vaudeville, film, theatre, dance, music, literature (writers with direct connections to film), and other allied fields in the entertainment industry from 1905 through 2000. Accidentally self-inflicted deaths are omitted, except for a few controversial cases. It includes the suicides of well-known personalities such as actress Peg Entwistle, who is the only person to ever commit suicide by jumping from the top of the Hollywood Sign, Marilyn Monroe and Dorothy Dandridge, who are believed to have overdosed on drugs, and Richard Farnsworth and Brian Keith, who shot themselves to end the misery of terminal cancer. Also mentioned, but in less detail, are the suicides of unknown and lesser-known members of the entertainment industry. Arranged alphabetically, each entry covers the person's personal and professional background, method of suicide, and, in some instances, includes actual statements taken from the suicide note.

Escaping the demands of Paris police work, Commissaire Capucine Le Tellier embarks on a well-deserved Mediterranean cruise. But wherever the renowned inspector goes, murder is sure to be close on the horizon. . . On the azure waters off the coasts of Corsica and Sardinia, what could be more relaxing and rewarding than traipsing around the Mediterranean enjoying the local culinary delights. To all appearances, the table is set for an affair to remember. In the midst of this pleasure cruise, Natalie, the yacht's cook, is lost overboard. A sudden squall is the assumed cause. But once a bullet hole is discovered in her jacket, suspicions quickly shift and the onboard bonhomie suffers accordingly. When a shell casing is uncovered that matches the gun Capucine is authorized to carry, for the first time in her stellar career, the hardworking detective finds herself the prime suspect. For Capucine, these are clearly not the deep waters she envisioned as part of her holiday. As the motives become murkier, the gifted Commissaire will need to harness all her powers of deduction to get to the bottom of the mystery--before she ends up at the bottom of the sea.
