Carrier Mediated Dermal Delivery written by Andreia Ascenso and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-09-01 with Medical categories.

This book presents new approaches for skin aging and photocarcinogenesis and topical formulations based on nanocarrier systems for skin disorders. It discusses cosmeceuticals, laser, photodynamic therapy, and melatonin-based treatments as important strategies for photoaging management. Photodynamic therapy and melatonin can be used in the photocarcinogenesis context, too. Therefore, the inclusion of this strong antioxidant in sunscreen products could be a promising approach. The book discusses topical formulations, including emulsions (conventional formulations and emulsions stabilized by solid particles), nail films, and nanocarriers used for the delivery of actives in various skin and nail diseases such as acne, psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, fungal diseases, leishmaniasis, and skin cancer. Finally, several nanocarriers are introduced, such as lipid vesicles (ranging from the first-generation conventional liposomes to the more recent deformable vesicles), liquid crystalline nanodispersions, gelatin, and solid lipid nanoparticles. Their composition, formulation, characterization, and topical applications are also discussed. Although this is a broad topic, the most important (nano)pharmaceutical formulations are presented in the book.

Fundamentals Of Medicinal Chemistry And Drug Metabolism written by M. O. Faruk Khan and has been published by Bentham Science Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-06-01 with Medical categories.

The primary objective of this 4-volume book series is to educate PharmD students on the subject of medicinal chemistry. The book set serves as a reference guide to pharmacists on aspects of chemical basis of drug action. This first volume of the series is comprised of 8 chapters focusing on basic background information about medicinal chemistry. It takes a succinct and conceptual approach to introducing important fundamental concepts required for a clear understanding of various facets of pharmacotherapeutic agents, drug metabolism and important biosynthetic pathways that are relevant to drug action. Notable topics covered in this first volume include the scope and importance of medicinal chemistry in pharmacy education, a comprehensive discussion of the organic functional groups present in drugs, and information about four major types of biomolecules (proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, nucleic acids) and key heterocyclic ring systems. The concepts of acid-base chemistry and salt formation, and their applications to the drug action and design follow thereafter. These include concepts of solubility and lipid-water partition coefficient (LWPC), isosterism, stereochemical properties, mechanisms of drug action, drug receptor interactions critical for pharmacological responses of drugs, and much more. Students and teachers will be able to integrate the knowledge presented in the book and apply medicinal chemistry concepts to understand the pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics of therapeutic agents in the body.

Pharmacology in Drug Discovery and Development: Understanding Drug Response, Third Edition is an introductory resource that illustrates how pharmacology can be used to furnish the tools necessary to analyze different drug behavior and trace this behavior to its root cause or molecular mechanism of action. Chapters logically build upon one another to show how to characterize the pharmacology of any given molecule and allow for more informed predictions of drug effects in all biological systems. New chapters are dedicated to the interdisciplinary drug discovery environment in both industry and academia, and special techniques involved in new drug screening and lead optimization. The updates to the Third Edition include a new section converting “descriptive” data into “predictive” data through comparison to mathematical models, expansion on enzymes, drug metabolites and drug–drug interactions, and two new chapters. The newly developed companion website hosts further educational resources to complement the book. As in previous editions, this new edition includes numerous valuable chapter summaries, detailed references, practical examples, and case studies throughout. Fully updated, including two new chapters on the science of finding drug molecules Introduces the discipline to a scientist new to the area Demonstrates the value of pharmacology in the drug discovery process Presents a wide variety of techniques in simple terms Includes interactive exercises in the companion website
