The Coordinated Activities for the Safety of Products (CASP) projects enable all market surveillance authorities (MSAs) from European Union (EU) / European Economic Area (EEA) countries to cooperate in reinforcing the safety of products placed on the European Single Market. The CASP 2021 Crisis preparedness and management horizontal activity (HA) focused on identifying the main elements that MSAs should consider to keep the EU Single Market safe in exceptional and crisis situations such as the one experienced with the COVID-19 pandemic. More specifically, the activity had the following objectives: - exchanging views and experiences on how to address challenges arising in crisis situations; - sharing approaches and best practices adopted by MSAs during the COVID-19 pandemic; - developing a common strategy on how to prepare for and how to successfully manage future crisis situations.

The Coordinated Activities on the Safety of Products (CASP) projects enable all market surveillance authorities (MSAs) from European Union (EU)/European Economic Area (EEA) countries to cooperate in reinforcing the safety of products placed on the European Single Market. The CASP 2021 risk assessment and management (RAM) horizontal activity (HA) focused on increasing consistency in the risk assessment (RA) and risk management of non-food consumer products across EU/EEA MSAs by exchanging views and best practices. In doing so, it built on previous CASP activities that sought to harmonise RAM approaches by providing guidance on injury scenarios, the estimation of probabilities, and risk management strategies. More specifically, the 2021 RAM HA had the following objectives: map risks and areas that are challenging to assess and manage for MSAs; share strategies and tools to overcome these challenges through case-solving workshops; discuss difficult cases and share best practices by preparing guidance documents on RA and risk management.

The Coordinated Activities on the Safety of Products (CASP) 2021 projects enable all market surveillance authorities (MSAs) from the European Union (EU)/European Economic Area (EEA) countries to cooperate in reinforcing the safety of products placed on the European Single Market. The CASP 2021 Online market surveillance (OMS) horizontal activity (HA) focused on carrying forward the work already performed in 2020 and developing practical tools and solutions to address additional OMS challenges. Through mini-projects, the MSAs worked on three main challenges: drop-shipping, cross-border collaboration and how to perform OMS. The European Commission's (EC) eSurveillance tool was extensively used to provide feedback and possible suggestions for improvement.

CASP also contributes to creating greater awareness about product safety among economic operators (EOs) and consumers through an active communication strategy about its activities and results.

The Coordinated Activities on the Safety of Products (CASP) projects enable all the market surveillance authorities (MSAs) from European Union (EU)/European Economic Area (EEA) countries to cooperate in reinforcing the safety of products placed on the European Single Market. The objectives of this activity on the one hand were to facilitate horizontal discussions on challenges associated with suspected dangerous counterfeit products (identification, specific risks, channels, main types, etc.). On the other hand, the activity aimed at sampling and testing a selection of confirmed counterfeit products posing potential safety issues. The selection of the product category to be tested was agreed upon at the beginning of the activity by taking into account various concerns of the participants. One of the aims was to sample counterfeit helmets for bicyclists and for users of skateboards or roller skates in order to be able to compare the test results with the results from the activity focusing on authentic helmets for biking, skateboarding and roller skating (CASP 2021 - PSA5) that was being conducted at the same time.
