A revealing biography of Stephen Gano Burbridge, the controversial Union Army general known as the “Butcher of Kentucky.” For the last third of the nineteenth century, Union General Stephen Gano Burbridge enjoyed the unenviable distinction of being the most hated man in Kentucky.
