En este gran clásico, de carácter programático, del padre De Lubac se perfilan los dos rasgos esenciales de la realidad católica. Por un lado, la dimensión «social» --la solidaridad universal como acontecimiento salvífico de la humanidad-- y, por otro, la dimensión «histórica» --la significación de la temporalidad y de la historia--. El plan divino de la creación y redención es uno, como una es también la humanidad en cuanto realidad creada. La Iglesia fundada por Cristo está comprometida con la obra de unificación de la humanidad, dividida por el pecado y el egoísmo; en ella se inaugura la reconciliación universal. La dialéctica permanente entre persona y comunidad y entre inmanencia y trascendencia definen su ser y su obrar como sacramento de Cristo en el mundo. La Iglesia, igual que el hombre real, debe ser visible y tangible, al mismo tiempo que invisible y espiritual. Igualmente, no se pueden separar salvación del género humano y salvación individual. «La existencia socialmente más perfecta y más dichosa que pueda imaginarse sería sin duda la cosa más inhumana del mundo, si no estuviera acompañada de una auténtica renovación de la vida interior; de la misma manera que la vida interior no sería más que pura mistificación si se replegara sobre sí misma en una especie de egoísmo refinado». In the field of comparative legal history, Ethiopia is still an unknown country. One of its treasures is the Fetha Nagast, a book of law which had a great influence in the history of Ethiopia and still has great consideration in the society, with its richness in Biblical and Christian principles.
