Sustainability constitutes the guideline for the European Transport Policy (ETP). The thesis develops a quantitative tool for strategic sustainability analysis of aspired and potential European transport policies. The tool integrates models of different scientific disciplines into one integrated assessment model that is based on System Dynamics methodology. This approach requires to develop micro-macro-bridges that link micro-level decision models e.g. modal choice for OD-relations, or modal investment decisions with the meso-level i.e. sectoral implications of these decisions and finally with the macro-level affecting GDP or employment. As input of the sustainability assessment the model provides a comprehensive and consistent set of indicators suitable to forecast policy impacts until 2020+. For policy evaluation different methods are suggested and a participatory policy process is sketched, that is geared to the process developed for Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA).

The Real Price Of War written by Joshua S. Goldstein and has been published by NYU Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2005-09 with History categories.

Calculates and expounds on the costs to individual Americans of the War on Terror Are Americans in denial about the costs of the War on Terror? In The Real Price of War, Joshua S. Goldstein argues that we need to face up to what the war costs the average American—both in taxes and in changes to our way of life. Goldstein contends that in order to protect the United States from future attacks, we must fight—and win—the War on Terror. Yet even as President Bush campaigns on promises of national security, his administration is cutting taxes and increasing deficit spending, resulting in too little money to eradicate terrorism and a crippling burden of national debt for future generations to pay. The Real Price of War breaks down billion-dollar government expenditures into the prices individual Americans are paying through their taxes. Goldstein estimates that the average American household currently pays $500 each month to finance war. Beyond the dollars and cents that finance military operations and increased security within the U.S., the War on Terror also costs America in less tangible ways, including lost lives, reduced revenue from international travelers, and budget pressures on local governments. The longer the war continues, the greater these costs. In order to win the war faster, Goldstein argues for an increase in war funding, at a cost of about $100 per household per month, to better fund military spending, homeland security, and foreign aid and diplomacy. Americans have been told that the War on Terror is a war without sacrifice. But as Goldstein emphatically states: “These truths should be self-evident: The nation is at war. The war is expensive. Someone has to pay for it.”

The book "Museum der Wnsche" presents highlights from the mumok's collections (Wassily Kandinsky, Paul Klee, Alberto Giacometti, Piet Mondrian, Frantisek Kupka, Ren Magritte, Pablo Picasso, etc.) together with works that are still available in the market and might complement and expand the collections in thematic terms. Given the scant acquisitions budgets that now hamper efforts to purchase additional works of art at almost all museums, this form of presentation is an ideal way to win the support of private patrons and sponsors. The museum hopes to buy works by Cy Twombly, Dan Flavin, Blinky Palermo, and Fred Sandback, among others; by acquiring art by younger artists such as Monika Sosnowska, Phil Collins, Tacita Dean, and Stephen Prina, it wishes to open its doors to the twenty-first century.
