The emerging field of corporate law, corporate governance and sustainability is one of the most dynamic and significant areas of law and policy in light of the convergence of environmental, social and economic crises that we face as a global society. Understanding the impact of the corporation on society and realizing its potential for contributing to sustainability is vital for the future of humanity. This Handbook comprehensively assesses the state-of-the-art in this field through in-depth discussion of sustainability-related problems, numerous case studies on regulatory responses implemented by jurisdictions around the world, and analyses of predominant strategies and potential drivers of change. This Handbook will be an essential reference for scholars, students, practitioners, policymakers, and general readers interested in how corporate law and governance have exacerbated global society's most pressing challenges, and how reforms to these fields can help us resolve those challenges and achieve sustainability.

This ebook is the English summary version of a longer ebook that has chapters in the national languages. For the longer version, see the 50th book in this series, " Restorative justice dialogue against violent radicalisation: evidence from Turkey, the UK, Ireland, Italy, Romania and Spain" (ISBN: 978-1-911634-77-5) There is an increasing phenomenon of violent radicalisation, extremism and nationalism across Europe, with a need for a new approach that will help to prevent young people from engaging in these violent activities. As part of RJ4All’s wider programme on Preventing & Addressing Violent Radicalisation and Extremism, we set up the Restorative Dialogue Against Violent Radicalisation (RDaVR). This was carried out with support from Erasmus+ in six countries: the UK, Italy, Spain, Turkey, Ireland and Romania. This ebook brings together the findings from RDaVR through national chapters as well as a comparative analysis. A longer version is also available, which includes the project findings in Turkish, Italian, Spanish and Romanian. The ebook is particularly useful to criminal justice professionals and volunteers (e.g. prison officers, probation staff, police and community based practitioners) working with offenders, ex-offenders or individuals who are at risk of being groomed into violent radicalisation and/ or group offending. The project and ebook are based on Gavrielides’ restorative justice model, which is a psychosocial intervention aiming to increase resilience and prevent anti-social behaviour. Prof. Gavrielides has been piloting this model through various pilots in the community, schools, prisons, universities and online. Instead of “managing” people as “risks” (Risk Need Responsivity), Gavrielides’ model focuses on promoting talents and strengths and through this approach help develop positive identities. This is captured as the Good Lives Model (GLM) articulated through the values and practices of restorative justice including power sharing, dialogue, fairness, equality and autonomy. No ‘big words’ or complex solutions. We simply intend to use our (students’ and teachers’ alike) common efforts, experience, knowledge and willingness to find out the most efficient 10 ways to fig global warming and try to stop the damage we produce to our own planet. The ebook was co-funded by Erasmus+ and the project was coordinated by Dr. Theo Gavrielides.

This e-book forms part of the Culture and Art for Restorative Justice (CA4RJ) project and is the first step in developing evidence-based tools to support migrant integration. The e-book was produced collectively by the project’s partners, each of whom conducted primary and secondary research to explore how restorative justice and art can promote community cohesion. The Culture and Art for Restorative Justice (CA4RJ) project arises within the context of increased tensions across Europe surrounding migration and integration. The project brings together a cross-sector, strategic partnership of 7 organisations from the UK, Spain, Cyprus, Greece, and Turkey to create resources for professionals working with migrants so that they may incorporate restorative justice values and creative expression into their work. The project is funded by Erasmus+ and is coordinated by the RJ4All International Institute. The partners are Reframe House (UK), RESET (Cyprus), EDRA (Greece), IASIS (Greece), CIS (Spain), and CERA (Turkey). CA4RJ aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of professionals working with migrants through developing tools that emphasize how restorative justice and art can support migrant integration. The project will result in an e-book, training programme, and interactive tools that can be used by a wide range of professionals working with migrant communities. Edited by two leading restorative justice scholars from the West and East, this unique e-book bridges a gap in the literature by bringing together new evidence on the application of restorative practices in educational settings. The book has two aims. First, it builds a bridge between the restorative justice world in the East with that of the West. The volume demonstrates how similar the theoretical and practical experiences are in the two sides of the world. It presents us with evidence of what works in policy, research and practice and allows us to make comparisons for the future. Secondly, the book challenges restorative justice which is often seen through the narrow lenses of the criminal justice system. ——————————————————————– BOOK REVIEW “It is arrogant indeed to think that schools in the west have all the answers and we are somehow more advanced in our thinking and practice. The scope of the chapters in this book travails many of the issues that face schools and systems everywhere. This book is highly recommended for anyone practicing, studying or legislating restorative justice in educational settings. Restorative practice is who we are, not what we do!”.
