Demographic change is affecting societies and organizations alike. Although ageing is relevant to all, there is still a tendency for more negative stereotypes to be attributed to older individuals, while positive stereotypes are mainly associated with younger individuals. Further, there are indications of gendered ageism, showing that age prejudices are more likely to affect women. This book argues that, through holistic measures, human resources management is of fundamental importance to an age-friendly and non-age-discriminatory culture. It can be assumed that awareness-raising on age issues also takes into account the gender issue. Drawing on qualitative interviews with employees in the Austrian banking industry and using an analytical framework, the author provides suggestions and implications for organizations to address this situation.

The Older Prisoner written by Diete Humblet and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-01-23 with Social Science categories.
This book critically explores the world of older prisoners to provide a more nuanced understanding of imprisonment at old age. Through an ethnographical study of male and female older prisoners in two Belgian prison settings, one in which older prisoners are integrated and one in which they are segregated, it informs debates and seeks to recognise ageist discourse, attitudes, practices in prison. The Older Prisoner seeks to situate the older prisoner from both a penological and gerontological perspective, organised around the following broad themes: the construction of the older prisoner, the physical prison world, the social prison world, surviving prison and giving meaning. The book allows readers to navigate between contrasting perspectives and voices rather than reinforcing traditional narratives and prevailing discourses on the older prisoner. In doing so, it hopes to open up a broader dialogue on ageing and punishment. It also offers insights into the concept of meaning in life as an analytical tool to study prisoners.

Through out the current period of educational change, Geography education has also changed. The innovations may be the starting point to affect conceptual change and paradigm shifts. Geography education assimilates and integrates knowledge, skills and scientific methodologies. The ten articles in this book illuminate a wide range of topics of interest to Geography education. In their article, Skarstein and Wolff discuss how the interplay between the environment, society and economy pillars of sustainability thinking play out on scales of time, space and multitude and how geography teachers can support the students’ understanding of sustainability. Yli-Panula et al. analysed used teaching and learning methods to find out good ones for promoting sustainability in geography. The same idea can be found in Duffin's and Perry’s article on Place-Based Ecology Education. In their article, Dür and Keller discuss the topics of quality of life, sustainability and global justice based on the goals of Education for Sustainable Development. Evaluation is an important part of learning. It is reviewed by Schauss and Sprenger regarding climate change education. The following two articles deal with students' views of landscapes worth conserving. In both studies, students expressed concern about the state of the environment. Yli-Panula et al. found that the Mexican students seldom considered their own activities in relation to the environment while Yli-Panula et al. stated that only some of the Finnish and Swedish students act as observers while others actively care for their environment. The remaining three articles deal with teaching methods and models. Benninghaus et al. present a benchmark method, which allows statements about the quality of the maps/diagrams in general. Álvarez-Otero and De Lázaro y Torres, on the other hand, describe their Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge model. Kopnina and Saari discusses student assignments reflecting on the documentary film through critical pedagogy and ecopedagogy.

Space and Society which was started by the Austrian Research Foundation in 1994 and coordinated by the author. Constructions Of Women S Age At The Workplace written by Margret Beisheim and has been published by Peter Lang Gmbh, Internationaler Verlag Der Wissenschaften this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009 with Business & Economics categories.
A woman is seldom perceived as «ageless», but is habitually categorized and assessed according to her age. Age-specific expectations exist for her body, her behaviour, and her way of living. In an economic context, these social norms concerning age and ageing have important consequences for women. They affect the way positions, salaries and career options are distributed. What is noticeable, however, is that a woman's age is always held against her: A woman is too young for leadership, too unreliable to be promoted, too old to be retained in the company's workforce. From quite different perspectives, constructions of women's age at the workplace are discussed in this volume.

The Rights Of The Child And The Changing Image Of Childhood written by Philip E. Veerman and has been published by BRILL this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-11-01 with Law categories.
In this book Philip E. Veerman presents and discusses milestones in the evolution of children's rights, as well as the work of a number of important pioneers in this field in order to examine whether the concept of childhood has changed in our century. With Samuel Shye's `Systemic Quality of Life Model' as a conceptual framework and uniform standard, more than forty Declarations and Conventions are analysed and compared. Veerman thus unfolds an exciting picture of the changing image of childhood, starting at the beginning of this century and culminating in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child of 1989, and the World Summit for Children of 1990. Finally the author proposes, together with Samuel Shye, a Declaration on the Rights of the Child based on the `Systemic Quality of Life Model'. All the important Declarations and Conventions are reprinted as appendices. This makes Veerman's study a complete and up-to-date textbook on children's right. Dr. Veerman is the coordinator of the Israel Section of Defence for Children International (DCI) and Fellow of the Youth Policy Center of Haifa University.
