In a world where magic feeds on chaos, one girl must harness her power to quell a brewing rebellion that threatens to tear the realm apart. Seventeen-year-old Keira Altman is the newest Legionnaire in the Legion of Pneumos, an ancient order tasked with wielding the power of pneumonancy to preserve order across worlds. Torn from her own reality and desperate to return home, Keira must navigate the treacherous politics of Loren while mastering a magic that feeds on the very chaos she's sworn to control. But when the Regio of Loren is found on his deathbed and whispers of a rebel uprising send shockwaves through the kingdom, Keira's newfound power may be the only thing standing between order and anarchy. Joined by her grounder and best friend Danny, she embarks on a perilous journey to escort the naive young prince to safety and secure the line of succession. As secrets unravel and betrayals cut deep, Keira finds herself at the heart of a conspiracy that threatens not only her life but the fate of the realm itself. With the lines between friend and foe blurring, she must decide whether to uphold her oath to the Legion or stand against the oppression of the people. In a world where chaos lurks just beneath the surface, one girl's choice could be the spark that ignites a revolution. Perfect for fans of Leigh Bardugo and Sabaa Tahir, Chaos Looming is the first book in the Legion of Pneumos series. Richly imagined, emotionally complex, and wholly unputdownable, this epic tale of magic, sacrifice, and destiny will have you breathlessly turning pages. Dive into a vividly imagined world where the only thing more dangerous than the power you wield is the truth you uncover.

Zipporah Camille Thompson: Looming Chaos is the exhibition catalog created on the occasion of the Looming Chaos exhibition that took place Spring of 2020 at the Zuckerman Museum of Art at Kennesaw State University. The catalog features full color images of the art works, a suite of poems by rosa mendez, and a transcribed conversation between Thompson and LA-based weaver, Diedrick Brackens. Looming Chaos was a solo exhibition of Atlanta-based artist Zipporah Camille Thompson. The exhibition explores the artist's use of weaving to engage ideas of chaos. Thompson conceptualizes chaos as the tensions associated with personal and universal experiences of disaster and catastrophe. Her weaving practice enables her to materialize the destruction, disorder, and confusions of the world, transforming them into fantastical fiber abstractions. The deterioration of the environment, tumultuous personal histories, and the complexities of her own identity become fodder for creation.

“A marvelously entertaining, historical romp through the unexpected connections between mathematics and mysticism” (Paul Hoffman, Discover). From the mysterious cult of Pythagoras to the awesome mechanics of Stonehenge to digitally generated “gargoyles” and fractals, mathematics has always been a powerful, even divine force in the world. In a lively, intelligent synthesis of math, mysticism, and science fiction, Clifford Pickover explains the eternal magic of numbers. Taking a uniquely humorous approach, he appoints readers “Chief Historian” of an intergalactic museum and sends them, along with a quirky cast of characters, hurtling through the ages to explore how individuals used numbers for such purposes as predicting the end of the world, finding love, and winning wars.

A war is coming. And it's being taken to the skies. Beneath the cloud cover, in the perpetual half-darkness of the shadows cast by immense sky cities looming overhead, toil a race of people known as Groundlings. They have toiled for hundreds of years, farming, hunting and fishing, and sending a tithe from their labours up, in giant elevators, to the sky cities above. It's a sacrifice to the Ascended Ones - made in the belief that when the Groundlings die and are cremated, they go on to a new, Ascended, life above the clouds. But Ascension is a lie. And while the first rebellion against the Deacons, priests of the Ascended, is over, a new war is about to begin. One which will see Groundlings take to the air in battle against the angel-like Airborn, which will see blood and feathers fly, planes explode, and Airborn cities come crashing to the ground.

The End Of Time written by Anthony Aveni and has been published by University Press of Colorado this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009-10-01 with History categories.

December 21, 2012. The Internet, bookshelves, and movie theaters are full of prophecies, theories, and predictions that this date marks the end of the world, or at least the end of the world as we know it. Whether the end will result from the magnetic realignment of the north and south poles, bringing floods, earthquakes, death, and destruction; or from the return of alien caretakers to enlighten or enslave us; or from a global awakening, a sudden evolution of Homo sapiens into non-corporeal beings - theories of great, impending changes abound. In The End of Time, award-winning astronomer and Maya researcher Anthony Aveni explores these theories, explains their origins, and measures them objectively against evidence unearthed by Maya archaeologists, iconographers, and epigraphers. He probes the latest information astronomers and earth scientists have gathered on the likelihood of Armageddon and the oft-proposed link between the Maya Long Count cycle and the precession of the equinoxes. He then expands on these prophecies to include the broader context of how other cultures, ancient and modern, thought about the "end of things" and speculates on why cataclysmic events in human history have such a strong appeal within American pop culture.
