PREFACE What is consciousness? The concept of consciousness would be like a dynamic field of perception and understanding, where a reality is created. It can be understood broadly as the idea of "degrees" or stages, or also as spheres or periods of spiritual, mental and emotional progress. And finally, like a ladder with its respective steps. In this book, I will address the topic “Degrees of Consciousness”. Consciousness will be analyzed in an analogical way, where I intend to describe how it begins and develops. And also, how these degrees can be represented and understood at each stage or throughout the evolution process. To better understand, they could be represented as spheres, where each of them would compose a protocol throughout the search for greater consciousness. I have my own opinion on the subject and there are many theories. And I notice a great relationship with the majority of thinkers and philosophers who created their ideas and concepts on this same subject. As I said, I see it as an evolutionary sequence, which as it progresses, an increasingly greater degree of understanding and consciousness is acquired.

Neuropsychological research on the neural basis of behavior generally asserts that brain mechanisms ultimately suffice to explain all psychologically described phenomena. This assumption stems from the idea that the brain consists entirely of material particles and fields, and that all causal mechanisms relevant to neuroscience can be formulated solely in terms of properties of these elements. Contemporary basic physical theory differs from classic physics on the important matter of how consciousness of human agents enters into the structure of empirical phenomena. The new principles contradict the older idea that local mechanical processes alone account for the structure of all empirical data. Contemporary physical theory brings directly into the overall causal structure certain psychologically described choices made by human agents about how they will act.
