"This monograph is, as far as the author has gathered, the third one of its kind which presents various characterizations of many important continuous distributions. It consists of two chapters. The first chapter lists cumulative distributions and probability density functions of six hundred and sixty seven newly proposed univariate continuous distributions. Chapter Two consists of four sections. Section 2.1 provides characterizations of the majority of the distributions mentioned in Chapter One, based on the ratio of two truncated moments. Section 2.2 takes up the characterizations of some of these distributions in terms of their hazard functions. Section 2.3 deals with the characterizations some of these distributions based on their reverse hazard functions. Characterizations of some of these distributions based on the conditional expectations of certain functions of the random variable are presented in Section 2.4. As pointed out in our previous Monographs (I & II), a good number of proposed distributions in this volume have already been introduced in the literature"--

This monograph is, as far as the authors have gathered, the first one of its kind which presents various characterisations of many important and continuous distributions. It consists of six chapters. The first chapter lists cumulative distribution functions, probability density functions, hazard functions and reverse hazard functions of one hundred thirty-six important univariate continuous distributions. Chapter Two provides characterisations of these distributions based on the ratio of two truncated moments. Chapter Three takes up the characterisations of some of these distributions in terms of their hazard functions. Chapter Four deals with the characterisations of some of these distributions based on their reverse hazard functions. Characterisations of some of these distributions based on the conditional expectations of certain functions of the random variable are presented in Chapter Five. Finally, to make this book self-contained, we present the characterisations of a large number of distributions (without their proofs) that have already been published by Hamedani and coauthors in Chapter Six.

These three volumes constitute the edited Proceedings of the NATO Advanced Study Institute on Statistical Distributions in Scientific Work held at the University of Calgary from July 29 to August 10, ~. 974. The general title of the volumes is "Statistical Distributions in Scientific Work". The individual volumes are: Volume 1 - Models and Structures; Volume 2 - Model Building and Model Selection; and Volume 3 - Characterizations and Applications. These correspond to the three advanced seminars of the Institute devoted to the respective subject areas. The planned activities of the Institute consisted of main lectures and expositions, seminar lectures and study group dis cussions, tutorials and individual study. The activities included meetings of editorial committees to discuss editorial matters for these proceedings which consist of contributions that have gone through the usual refereeing process. A special session was organized to consider the potential of introducing a course on statistical distributions in scientific modeling in the curriculum of statistics and quantitative studies. This session is reported in Volume 2. The overall perspective for the Institute is provided by the Institute Director, Professor G. P. Pati1, in his inaugural address which appears in Volume 1. The Linnik Memorial Inaugural Lecture given by Professor C. R. Rao for the Characterizations Seminar is included in Volume 3. As discussed in the Institute inaugural address, not mL.

Statistical simulation has become a cornerstone in statistical research and applications. The aim of Representative Points of Statistical Distributions: Applications in Statistical Inference is to present a comprehensive exploration of various methods for statistical simulation and resampling, focusing on consistency and efficiency. It covers a range of representative points (RPs) – Monte Carlo (MC) RPs, quasi-Monte Carlo (QMC) RPs, and mean square error (MSE) RPs – and their applications, and includes a collection of recent developments in the field. It also explores other types of representative points and the corresponding approximate distributions, and delves into the realm of statistical simulation by exploring the limitations of traditional MC methods and the innovations brought about by the bootstrap method. In addition, the text introduces other kinds of representative points and the corresponding approximate distributions such as QMC and MSE methods. Features Comprehensive exploration of statistical simulation methods: provides a deep dive into MC methods and bootstrap methods, and introduces other kinds of RPs and the corresponding approximate distributions, such as QMC and MSE methods. Emphasis on consistency and efficiency: highlights the advantages of these methods in terms of consistency and efficiency, addressing the slow convergence rate of classical statistical simulation. Collection of recent developments: brings together the latest advancements in the field of statistical simulation, keeping readers up to date with the most current research. Practical applications: includes numerous practical applications of various types of RPs (MC-RPs, QMC-RPs, and MSE-RPs) in statistical inference and simulation. Educational resource: can serve as a textbook for postgraduate students, a reference book for undergraduate students, and a valuable resource for professionals in various fields. The book serves as a valuable resource for postgraduate students, researchers, and practitioners in statistics, mathematics, and other quantitative fields.

Kendall's Advanced Theory of Statistics and Kendall's Library of Statistics The development of modern statistical theory is reflected in the history of the late Sir Maurice Kenfall's volumes, The Advanced Theory of Statistics. This landmark publication began life as a two-volume work and grew steadily as a single-authored work until the 1950s. In this edition, there is new material on skewness and kurtosis, hazard rate distribution, the bootstrap, the evaluation of the multivariate normal integral and ratios of quadratic forms. It also includes over 200 new references, 40 new exercises, and 20 further examples in the main text.

Lifetime Analysis By Aging Intensity Functions written by Magdalena Szymkowiak and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-02-01 with Technology & Engineering categories.
This book addresses a range of aging intensity functions, which make it possible to measure and compare aging trends for lifetime random variables. Moreover, they can be used for the characterization of lifetime distributions, also with bounded support. Stochastic orders based on the aging intensities, and their connections with some other orders, are also discussed. To demonstrate the applicability of aging intensity in reliability practice, the book analyzes both real and generated data. The estimated, properly chosen, aging intensity function is mainly recommended to identify data’s lifetime distribution, and secondly, to estimate some of the parameters of the identified distribution. Both reliability researchers and practitioners will find the book a valuable guide and source of inspiration.
