This monograph offers the reader a complete overview on both principles and applications of CE-MS. Starting with an introductory chapter on detection in CE, also related and more specialized techniques such as electrophoretic and chromatographic preconcentration are discussed. A special emphasis is put on CE-MS interfaces, which are described in detail. In a separate chapter, attention is paid to sheath-liquid interfacing. The developments and possibilities of microchip CE-MS are also described. Applications to all relevant areas are discussed in distinct chapters, each written by experts in the respective fields. Besides applications in pharmaceutical analysis and bioanalysis, recent implementations in food science, forensic analysis, analysis of intact proteins, metabolomics and proteomics are highlighted. MS is a perfectly appropriate detection system for CE, as efficient separation is coupled to sensitive and selection detection. Moreover, MS can provide structure information on the separated compounds. CE-MS has now been developed into a strong hyphenated system complementary to LC-MS. This monograph is an unique source of knowledge for everyone dealing with and interested in CE-MS.

Chemometrics, or the application of multivariate statistics to chemical data, provides informative and statistically valid analyses within a forensic context and there has been an increase in the use of chemometrics to characterise forensic exhibits. Introducing chemometric methods suitable for forensic practitioners, this book fills a gap in the literature outlining how such methods are applied to forensic casework, what limitations to these approaches exist, and future trends emerging in the field. The book highlights how chemometric methods may be applied to different areas of forensic science, enabling more confident and transparent decision-making based on quantitative approaches. It is divided into various sections which include a background to chemometrics, types of chemometric methods, their applications in various disciplines of forensic science, and emerging trends in the field. The detailed discussion of chemometric methods used for the examination of forensic exhibits outlines their advantages, limitations, and efficiency. Providing a centralised source of information addressing the above aspects, and suitable for forensic practitioners, researchers and stakeholders, this book is written for MSc Forensic Science courses and more broadly applications in the biological, chemical and physical sciences.

Analysis Of Pharmaceuticals By Capillary Electrophoresis written by Kevin D. Altria and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-04-17 with Technology & Engineering categories.
During the 1980's the analysis of pharmaceuticals was dominated by the use of High Perfor mance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). Other separative techniques such as Gas Chromato graphy and Thin Layer Chromatography offered alternatives but their quantitative capabili ties and/or solute range could not approach that of HPLC. The majority of pharmaceuticals are ionic and it would be reasonable to assume that electrophoresis may be useful in the analysis of pharmaceuticals. However, the electrophore tic instruments available in the 1980's were labour intensive and employed post-separation detection procedures. During the late 1980's and early 1990's extensive research was con ducted into the possibilities of conducting electrophoretic separations in capillaries. This approach allowed on-line detection and could be performed on fully automated equipment. This research led to the advent of modern day capillary electrophoresis (CE) instruments which offer similar performance and automation levels to that of HPLC. Research was also focused on developing applications for CE and particular attention was paid to applications within the pharmaceutical analysis area. These applications proved that CE could be applied to a wide range of drug types including water insoluble and neutral compounds. The ability to achieve efficient chiral separations of drugs also increased the popularity of the technique. CE with indirect UV detection has become established as a simple and effective alternative to ion-exchange chromatography for the determination of small inorganic or organic ions.

Chemometrics And Authenticity Of Foods Of Plant Origin written by Sofia Agriopoulou and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-12-22 with Science categories.
One of the challenges facing the world is feeding the ever-increasing population, with food security being a growing 21st century problem. This stresses the need for coordinated international systems to prevent and mitigate food fraud in global food supply chains. Food fraud, which is usually financially motivated, has significant consequences including unfair competition, major damage to markets and organizations, loss of consumer confidence, and it raises food safety issues. A shift toward a more plant-based diet can be endorsed to promote sustainability but also to improve public health and minimize animal suffering. The aim of this book is to deal with issues related to authenticity and chemometrics of the most important food products of plant origin, such as cereals, nuts, legumes, table olives and olive oil, coffee, tea, fruits and vegetables, fruit juices, spices, mushrooms, beers and wines, and honey, using state-of-the-art analytical techniques and instrumentation coupled with available chemometric tools.
