During the colder months, the process of creating toasty knitwear can be as cozy as the knitwear itself. One of my favorite things in the fall and the winter is to sit down in front of a roaring fire and knit or crochet. This cowl, with its bulky yarn, knits up quickly in just one or two evenings, and it only requires the most basic of knitting loom stitches: knit and purl. The zig-zaggy chevron texture is achieved through judiciously-placed purl stitches among the knit stitches. The project is worked on a Martha Stewart knitting loom, which allows you to customize the peg configuration with different colors – this makes it easier to keep track of the stitch pattern – although a savvy loomer could substitute a loom of similar gauge. Put your feet up in front of the fire, pour yourself a cup of tea, and knit up this cozy neckwarmer. You’ll be wearing it outside against the elements within a day or two! REQUIRED SKILLS None! This project is suitable for beginners. TOOLS AND MATERIALS 100 yards of bulky weight yarn, such as Patons Classic Wool Bulky Martha Stewart Crafts Knit and Weave Loom Kit or other large-gauge loom with at least 74 pegs scissors yarn needle TOPICS COVERED More than just a simple knitting loom pattern, this ebook is like a mini-class. Each topic includes step-by-step instructions and photos where appropriate. You will learn: e-wrap cast-on knit stitch purl stitch basic bind off the chevron cowl pattern Plus: Adjusting the pattern if your knitting gauge is different Blocking the cowl Variations Links to resources to help you learn more

The goal of this book is to guide crocheters step-by-step through Tunisian crochet, starting with tools and yarns, transitioning into how-to’s and stitches, and finishing with easy but engaging patterns. Several books have been written about US naval patrol aviation in World War 2, but none do full justice to the role played by patrol squadrons of the US Navy in the longest, most bitterly fought campaign of the war the Battle of the Atlantic. From the Arctic to the Equator, anti-submarine aircraft of the US Navy patrolled both sides of the stormy Atlantic alongside their allied counterparts, escorting merchant shipping through submarine-infested waters the crucial lifeline from the United States to Great Britain and the Mediterranean, and staging troops and supplies for the ultimate liberation of North Africa and Europe. This book details the PBY Catalina, without contest the most successful flying boat ever designed, and a key element in the success of the Atlantic War.
