Product DescriptionA wonderful book for all ages. Younger readers will find this somewhat a new Potter type genre.ReviewI found the plot compulsive. I simply had to read on to find out what happened. In the most complimentary sense of the phrase: it was a genuine page-turner. --Academi Critique ServiceProduct DescriptionThe powerful Elementi Empire spanned over a thousand years, its kings and queens loved and revered by their people and their elemental powers feared by their enemies. One fateful night almost a century ago, the Empire was destroyed by treachery and Magi illusion. All five heirs were thought to be lost... until now.On present day Earth, Jake has an ordinary life, school, bullies, parties... until he stumbles on an ancient crystal and discovers his adoption and a royal past. As Jake touches the pendant, the Magi Emperor in Eleria is alerted that not all the Elementi were killed all those years ago. The Emperor summons an evil fire demon and sends him across the dimensional barrier to hunt and kill the last of the Elementi. Can Jake learn to control his growing elemental powers and reunite the other lost children in time?"The writer has produced an excellent story of two magically endowed power groups confronting each other across time and space. ...Good books that have much in common with Children of the Elementi are C.S. Lewis's Narnia series, Tolkien's Hobbit and J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter stories."(Academi Critique Service)About the AuthorCeri graduated from Aberystwyth University in 2005 with an MSc in Library and Information Studies. I'm giving this book to my entire family, and can't wait the read the other books in this fantastic series. Ceri Clark is an accomplished author with this wonderful first work.... Magnificent. Five stars of full enjoyable Reading.A sample:The woman halted mid-step and turned sharply. Instinctively Nuin and Kiron scrambled back. They held their breath as the woman's eyes narrowed, examining the hallway. Kiron shook his head in disgust at himself and moved to challenge the stranger but Nuin's hand shot out and grabbed his arm. She shook her head at him - silently warning him to stay. He nodded reluctantly in response. Searching for a moment more, the woman turned again and carried on down the corridor. As the footsteps faded, Nuin straightened, shaken by the strange encounter. Who was that? What was that? She rushed to the open-door. At the threshold, she paused. Where was Malo? Taking deep breaths to quell her rising panic, she scanned the room, looking for the familiar and reassuring shape of her husband. Then she heard it. There was a groan from the far side of the room. She saw a hand slide away from the rich fabric covering the bed. She felt her lungs tighten in fear. What was happening? Rushing round the bed she saw her husband half-collapsed on the marble floor. He was clutching his chest, gasping for breath. Beside him lay a spilled wine cup.'Poison,' she breathed, 'Kiron, come quickly.'Only seconds behind, Kiron brushed past her to his liege's aid. Using his heightened senses he scanned the king's body. In his mind's eye, he could see the poison. A hot vivid purple, it glowed evilly, running unchecked through the king's blood. It was spreading slowly but steadily he saw and half of the king's body was already affected. Anguished, he knew there was nothing he could do. The poison had advanced too far - they were too late. He glanced with sorrow at Nuin.'I'm so sorry. I can only stop the pain. He has only a few minutes at most.''Do it!' Tears burned her eyes.Steeling himself, Kiron knelt beside Malo. The healer carefully lifted a flap on a small leather pouch that hung around his waist.

Children S Rights And Obligations In Canon Law written by Mary McAleese and has been published by BRILL this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-11-04 with Law categories.

In the first study of its kind Mary McAleese subjects to comprehensive scrutiny the Roman Catholic Church’s 1983 Code of Canon law as it applies to children. The Catholic Church is the world’s largest non-governmental organisation involved in the provision of education and care services to children. It has over three hundred million child members world-wide the vast majority of whom became Church members when they were baptised as infants. Canon law sets out their rights and obligations as members. Children also have rights which are set out in the 1989 United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child to which the Holy See is State Party. The impact of the Convention on Canon Law is examined in detail and the analysis charts a distinct and worrying sea-change in the attitude of the Holy See to its obligations under the Convention since the clerical sex abuse scandals became a subject of discussion at the Committee on the Rights of the Child, which monitors implementation of the Convention. Mary McAleese wins Europe’s richest theology prize for her study of canon law. The former President of Ireland Mary McAleese has won one of the Catholic world’s most prestigious prizes, the Alfons Auer Ethics Award, from Tübingen University in Germany for her doctoral thesis on Children’s Rights and Obligations in Canon Law.

Children In Antiquity written by Lesley A. Beaumont and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-12-30 with History categories.

This collection employs a multi-disciplinary approach treating ancient childhood in a holistic manner according to diachronic, regional and thematic perspectives. This multi-disciplinary approach encompasses classical studies, Egyptology, ancient history and the broad spectrum of archaeology, including iconography and bioarchaeology. With a chronological range of the Bronze Age to Byzantium and regional coverage of Egypt, Greece, and Italy this is the largest survey of childhood yet undertaken for the ancient world. Within this chronological and regional framework both the social construction of childhood and the child’s life experience are explored through the key topics of the definition of childhood, daily life, religion and ritual, death, and the information provided by bioarchaeology. No other volume to date provides such a comprehensive, systematic and cross-cultural study of childhood in the ancient Mediterranean world. In particular, its focus on the identification of society-specific definitions of childhood and the incorporation of the bioarchaeological perspective makes this work a unique and innovative study. Children in Antiquity provides an invaluable and unrivalled resource for anyone working on all aspects of the lives and deaths of children in the ancient Mediterranean world.

Frailty In Children written by Mario Lima and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-03-03 with Medical categories.

This book focuses on the management strategies of complex conditions of frail pediatric patients. The clinical condition of frailty is usually seen as the physiological and multidimensional decline of organ systems related to age: paradoxically, a frailty condition can also occur in children as a disability resulting from various congenital or acquired diseases. The fragile patients are more vulnerable to developing severe clinical events and often need surgical interventions. Moreover, those patients have significant morbidity and lower quality of life. The improvement in managing fragile patients has improved their life expectancy, but in most health care systems, the passage from childhood to adulthood is a critical point for the lack of medical figures able to provide the continuity of care. The book aims to provide guidance for dealing with medical and surgical emergencies and to develop short and long-term treatment strategies, and will provide an analysis of the different and the most innovative techniques. This book will be an unvaluable tool for Pediatric surgeons, Anesthesiologists, Critical Care Physicians, Hospital and family Pediatricians, nurses, Physiotherapists and Psychologists.

Play Development In Children With Disabilties written by Serenella Besio and has been published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-01-01 with Education categories.

This book is the result of the first two-year work of Working Group 1 of the network “LUDI – Play for children with disabilities”. LUDI is an Action (2014-2018) financed by COST; it is a multidisciplinary network of more than 30 countries and almost 100 researchers and practitioners belonging to the humanistic and technological fields to study the topic of play for children with disabilities within the framework of the International Classification of Functioning Disability and Health (WHO, 2001).The principal objective of this book is to bring the LUDI contribution to the important topic of play in children with disabilities, because today an international consensus on the definition of play and disabilities is still lacking. The process of ensuring equity in the exercise of the right to play for children with disabilites requests three actions: to approach this topic through a “common language”, at least all over Europe; to put play at the centre of the multidisciplinary research and intervention regarding the children with disabilities; to grant this topic the status of a scientific and social theme of full visibility and recognized authority. Children with disabilities face several limitations in play, due to several reasons: impairments; playgrounds, toys and other play tools that are not accessible and usable; environments and contexts that are not accessible nor inclusive; lack of educational awareness and intentionality; lack of specific psycho-pedagogical and rehabilitative competence; lack of effective intervention methodologies. Moreover, disabled children’s lives are dominated by medical and rehabilitative practices in which play is always an activity aiming to reach an objective or to provoke an improvement; play for the sake of play is considered a waste of time. The concept of play for the sake of play strongly refers to the distinction between play activities and play-like activities. Play activities are initiated and carried out by the player (alone, with peers, with adults, etc.) for the only purpose of play itself (fun and joy, interest and challenge, love of race and competition, ilinx and dizziness, etc.). They have of course consequences on growth and development, but these consequences are not intentionally pursued. Play-like activities are initiated and conducted by an adult (with one or more children), in educational, clinical, social contexts; they are playful and pleasant, but their main objective is other than play: e.g., cognitive learning, social learning, functional rehabilitation, child's observation and assessment, psychological support, psychotherapy, etc. This book, then, contributes to a clear distinction between play and play-like activities that, hopefully, will bring to new developments in play studies.
