Called to live in the world, but not to be of it, Christians must maintain a balancing act that becomes more precarious the further our culture departs from its Judeo-Christian roots. How should members of the church interact with such a culture, especially as deeply enmeshed as most of us have become? In this award-winning book -- now in paperback and with a new preface -- D. A. Carson applies his masterful touch to that problem. After exploring the classic typology of H. Richard Niebuhr with its five Christ-culture options, Carson offers an even more comprehensive paradigm for informing the Christian worldview. More than just theoretical, Christ and Culture Revisited is a practical guide for helping Christians untangle current messy debates about living in the world.

THE KINGDOM IS COMING When God created the heavens and the earth He planned it with wisdom and understanding. He saw everything He had made and it was very good. Did God then not foresee what Adam and Eve would do? Most Christians throughout the ages have believed that we would have been far better off if Adam and Eve had not disobeyed God and eaten the fruit of the 'Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil'. Nothing could be further from the truth. Christianity Revisited is a Christian handbook revisiting some truly important, but little understood, Christian teaching. The next major anticipated Christian event is the Rapture and it is vital that Christians are informed and prepared because Jesus said He will come as a thief in the night, and judging by world event this time may be closer than we realize. Christianity Revisited begins in the book of Genesis and works through the scriptures to the book of Revelation giving clarity and some deep insights on selected topics along the way. Special emphasis is given on Genesis, Israel, Jesus, the importance of the cross, the soon coming End of the Age, The Great Tribulation, The Millennium, and the Great Judgment. Christian author, Kerry Kyriakou was called by God to write this book and to reveal what Christians throughout the ages have overlooked. Beginning in the book of Genesis Kerry reveals from scripture why Adam's sin was not a disaster but a blessing and a trigger that set in motion an extended hidden complex plan that would solve the problem of sin and evil forever and make eternal life available to all humanity in what will become the most unimaginably beautiful, prosperous, and joyful eternal kingdom.

This collection of essays continues a long and venerable debate in the history of the Christian church regarding the legacy of the Roman emperor Constantine the Great. For some, Constantine's conversion to Christianity early in the fourth century set in motion a process that made the church subservient to the civil authority of the state, brought a definitive end to pacifism as a central teaching of the early church, and redefined the character of Christian catechesis and missions. In 2010, Peter J. Leithart published a widely read polemic, Defending Constantine, that vigorously refuted this interpretation. In its place, Leithart offered a thoroughgoing rehabilitation of Constantine and his legacy, while directing a rhetorical fusillade against the pacifist theology and ethics of the Mennonite theologian John Howard Yoder. The essays gathered here in response to Leithart reflect the insights of eleven leading theologians, historians, and ethicists from a wide range of theological traditions. They engage one of the most contentious issues in Christian church history in irenic fashion and at the highest level of scholarship. In so doing, they help ensure that the Constantinian Debate will continue to be lively, substantive, and consequential.

Have you ever wondered about the security of salvation--your own or perhaps that of someone you know? Do you sometimes worry about not going to hell? and what about babies? Do they get a free pass to Heaven? and where did evil come from, anyway? Why? Is Eve really to blame for all the world's troubles? Do the Ten Commandments apply to everyone? In marriage, do wives really have to be in subjection to their husbands? and are you concerned about how this world is headed? What does the Bible really say about events like the rapture, the great tribulation, the mark of the beast, the abomination of desolation, and those other scary things? There's no need to wonder any longer. Here are the answers and more from God's Word, easy to understand but profound and right on target. But be aware that some of your long-held beliefs will be thrown rudely to the ground. the author tells it like it is, not like what you thought it was. If you are sincere about finding the truth, it will help you find it. If you can't handle the truth, it may anger and frustrate you. Either way, you won't ever be the same.

This book is a constructive attempt at formulating a contemporary Pentecostal theology grounded in worship and witness. The theological vision expounded here is grounded in the Pentecostal story with its emphasis upon the fivefold Gospel. The doxological confession of Jesus as Savior, Sanctifier, Spirit Baptizer, Healer, and soon coming King provide the basic organizational structure of a Pentecostal narrative theology. Each chapter takes seriously these central convictions and allows them to shape, form, and reform various theological loci. Important issues such as methodology, hermeneutics, and theology as embodied worship and witness are addressed. The result is a vibrant and integrative theology fueled by a dynamic spirituality.

This volume focuses on the role of Judaism, particularly that of Philo, and of Gnosticism, as two important forces shaping the response of early Christianity to the Hellenistic Greco-Roman culture of its time. The sections which examine Hellenistic Judaism investigate themes from Greek philosophy, like 'reason controlling the passions, ' which are also crucial in shaping Philo's perception of the feminine. The manner in which Jewish authors of this period attempt to synthesize Old Testament with Greek philosophical themes like creation/cosmology receives specific treatment. Essays dealing with Gnosticism re-examine themes from Greek philosophers like Plato and Aristotle in Gnostic documents, but also look at the role of Hellenistic Judaism with its interests in Sophia.
