Church leaders today are far too busy to waste precious time and money on ineffective websites and fruitless online activity. Church Websites is a book for those ministers which explains how things work in the online world in simple language. This book explains the "why" behind the various online activities so ministers can focus their resources on the right things for maximum effectiveness. It doesn't matter that you are doing things right if you aren't doing the right things. Once you know the right things to do, figuring out how to do those things right is much easier. Church Websites will help you know the right things. The tools change. But the principles stay consistent. Specific techniques come and go. But the general strategies that work are still the same as they have always been. When it comes to building an audience online, the same overarching principles are true now that were true when I wrote my first blog post back in 2005. This book lays out a proven strategy for your church or ministry to reach more people online through both your website and social media based on my first-hand experience working with a wide variety of clients for more than a decade. My first freelance client was a parachurch ministry. Over the years I've worked with everything from small churches up through large corporate clients and major universities. Not only do these concepts work for all of those types of organizations, but they are also exactly how we continue to reach more people with our own international ministry. Church Websites will help you be more successful by showing you the important stuff to focus on so you don't waste a lot of time.

A Simplified Guide To Church Websites written by Brian Jaeger and has been published by CreateSpace this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-11-10 with categories.

Your church website could be better. Even if you paid a lot of money a few years ago, it's not exactly what you want. Maybe it doesn't exist at all, or maybe the volunteer who built it left for another church. While the reasons for not having a good church website are infinite, the way to create a better church website has just gotten a bit simpler with this guide designed to help anyone interested in attempting to implement a new website for a church. This is a book each minister, congregational president, and church library needs. The book starts with an argument for having a better website. If you've had trouble convincing your board or members of the need, you'll find some resources that might help. The guide then presents some suggestions about the kind of framework to use in building your new or updated site. The next part of the book takes a look at a website from top to bottom, going over most of what you'll need to create an effective design. Ratings are given for relative importance and difficulty of web page elements. The book then discusses pages of a typical church website, making some suggestions as to how to lay the pages out. You will also learn about several of the most popular and useful add-ons available for church websites. The entire book is written with budget in mind, since the author designs websites for local churches at a fraction of the cost of many custom web design businesses. The book is a pragmatic guide that covers most of what you'll need without trying to give step-by-step details, especially since it's meant to be applicable to many available systems. While the book can function as a basic guide to building your own sites, it's as much a list of suggestions that can help you navigate what you already have and what you will be shopping for when you get a website. It will help you understand what your web developer will be doing for you, whether it's someone you hire or a volunteer. Think of it this way: would you buy a car without doing a little research on the kind of car you need and the available options? A good website costs as much as a car, yet many churches get taken by slick sales pitches. This book will help you to at least understand what those salesmen are trying to offer. The book does not take a stance on the best way for your church to build a website. Rather, it offers options, suggestions, and a quick education on what could be useful in your decision-making and implementation of a new church website. Some of the ideas could save your church thousands of dollars, while others might allow you to see why spending the money is worth it. A few tricks might even save you something more valuable than money: time, especially if you're trying to build your own church website. The web designer who wrote this book routinely builds sites in three days or less, and you'll see screenshots of the results. While the goal may not be for you to speed-build your new church site, it's certainly tempting to find out how someone learned to build websites in three days while the local custom website building boutique will ask for six months to a year. If you want to look at some of the results before you purchase the book, please check out luthernet.org to see several examples of three-day website upgrades. Passiveninja.com also has a portfolio section showing more of the same: modern, mobile-friendly websites built in a few days using the tools and techniques in this book. Bonus articles discussing web design and church ministry efforts are included, as well as an annotated ministry resources list compiled by Lisa Jaeger. If you are looking for a DIY guide to building your own non-church website, this book will also help you. While it's geared towards churches, most of the ideas can be used with small business websites, education websites, family blogs, and many others, since the designer has built all kinds of sites over the years using mostly Joomla and Google Sites.

Malaysian Christians Online written by Meng Yoe Tan and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-02-26 with Social Science categories.

Many facets of social life are now intrinsically linked to the Internet through increasing dependence of user-centric platforms like blogs, social-networking websites, online forums, and open source websites. The Malaysian Church is not exempt from having to negotiate with an increasingly tech-savvy and networked community of believers. Based primarily on Internet ethnography and interviews with Christian bloggers and church pastors, this book looks at how the Internet is a component of “everyday religion” in the lives of Malaysian Christians at individual, institutional, and national levels. It examines the ways in which online Christian expressions are increasingly integrated into the everyday religious routines of Christians for the development of their personal identities and inter-religious interactions. This book also shows how the spiritual authority of church pastors can be both challenged and reinforced through the creative use of online tools. It addresses some of the creative ways in which Christians utilise the Internet to engage with national socio-political issues within the context of restrictive and controlled mainstream media, as well as the ongoing discourse with Islam in the country. Through a selection of case studies, this book shows that while the Internet may be “free”, the users of the Internet are not necessarily so. While the Internet has provided Malaysian Christians with new tools to experience their faith in new ways, several aspects of “old” offline socio-cultural habits persist online. These, in turn, lead to a robust and growing environment of Internet Christianity in Malaysia. This timely book will be of interest to scholars in religious studies, media and communications, and cultural studies in Southeast Asia.

Most church members don't see their churches clearly. In almost all of Thom S. Rainer's consultations, church members perceive their church to be friendly. But as he surveyed guests, he found that the guests typically saw church members as unfriendly. The perception chasm existed because the members were indeed friendly . . . to one another. The guests felt like they crashed a private party. Bestselling author Thom Rainer (I Am a Church Member, Autopsy of a Deceased Church) has a game plan for churches to become more hospitable. In a format that is suitable for church members to read individually or study together, Rainer guides readers toward a practical framework for making a difference for those who visit their church. Churches may use Becoming a Welcoming Church to assess and audit where they are on a spectrum between welcoming and wanting. Additionally, churches can use the companion book We Want You Here to send guests home with a compelling vision for what pastors want every guest to know when they visit.

Church Search written by Kevin W. Shorter and has been published by WestBow Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010-04-16 with Business & Economics categories.

In a net-savvy world, there is no question of whether or not digital marketing should play a role in a companys overall marketing strategy. But how do the rules of the online playground affect such traditional institutions as the Church? How can church ministries learn and adapt to these popular new models? Author Kevin W. Shorter delivers an upbeat, easy-to-implement guide to search engine optimization for churches in his new book, Church Search: How to Get Your Ministry to Show Up in Search Engines. The theory of if you build it, they will come does not work online, writes Shorter on the motivation behind writing his new guide. Potential visitors to the website need to be able to find it. Most prospective visitors to a church will go online to research the choices before walking through the door. Realizing a hole in the outreach programs of most churches, Shorter set to work to educate readers about the importance of an online presence. Among other lessons, Church Search instructs readers on how to: * Leverage the power of search engines * Determine whether your website is user-friendly * Uncover how new users are finding your site and how to generate more users * Utilize keyword analysis, blogs and customized web-material Ideally used as a complement to the work of traditional ministries, Church Search offers readers a tool to reach both non-believers and Christians new to a particular area. As Shorter writes: Remember, you never get a second chance to make a first impression. If you are not thinking with regards to search engine traffic, you might be leaving it up to other people to tell your story.

A Sociolinguistic View Of A Japanese Ethnic Church Community written by Tyler Barrett and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-05-21 with Education categories.

Drawing on sociolinguistic approaches, this book presents unique insights into a Japanese ethnic church community in Canada and the ways in which churches mediate issues of linguistic, cultural, and religious hybridity in addressing the needs of their diverse populations. The book integrates discourse analytic methods with ethnographic perspectives to explore the complex dynamics of negotiating their different members’ preferred language practices. The volume outlines the ways in which ethnic churches in this community build themselves around intentionally preferred Japanese language practices but make accommodations for English-language speakers in their own families, in turn making further accommodations for ESL student speakers new to the country. Barrett explores the impact of church members’ transcultural experiences in broader decisions around language planning and policy in these churches, shedding light on the distinct implications of hybrid identities on discourses in localized communities. // The volume will be of interest to scholars in sociolinguistics, applied linguistics, and religious studies.
