Los trabajos que aquí se presentan son el resultado de ocho conferencias de expertos latinoamericanos, cuatro investigadores argentinos que desarrollan sus trabajos de investigación, y seis ponencias que fueron seleccionadas por un Comité Académico. Se agrega a esta compilación un artículo introductorio que intenta presentar brevemente los procesos investigativos en torno a la producción de hábitat desde escenarios de co-construcción, participación y democratización del conocimiento. Se propuso poner en contacto a diversos grupos de investigación que trabajan en la temática de hábitat en la región a partir de enfoques epistémicos diversos y procesos metodológicos adaptados a cada problemática. Se constituyó en un espacio de intercambio y producción de experiencias, ideas y reflexiones que podrán convertirse en insumos para acciones transformadoras tanto en Políticas Habitacionales como de Ciencia y Tecnología inherentes al campo del Desarrollo Social. Por espacio de 3 días, y con la participación de más de 100 personas, se dieron debates y reflexiones que permitieron llevar adelante discusiones profundas, producto del encuentro de pensamientos y acciones en relación a hábitat. En esta publicación se intenta difundir lo más relevante de dichas discusiones, presentando brevemente los temas, de la manera más fidedigna posible.

How ten making & doing projects expand STS scholarship through a focus on knowledge expression and knowledge travel in addition to knowledge production. Making & doing projects expand STS scholarship to include the trajectories of STS knowledge flow beyond the boundaries of the field by actively interweaving knowledge expression and travel with knowledge production. In this edited volume, contributors from around the world present and critically assess ten empirical making & doing projects. They recount how their projects advance STS, and describe how they themselves learn from their interlocutors and the settings in which they do and share their STS work. A coda explains how the infrastructures of STS scholarship are broadening to include practices of making & doing. The contributors examine and reflect upon their dilemmas, frustrations, and failures, especially when these generate new practices that might not have occurred had their work not taken the form of making and doing scholarship. While each project raises a distinct set of scholarly issues, all of the projects include practices that express STS knowledge through “STS sensibilities” and attach those sensibilities to practices in empirical fields. The ten projects include one each in Argentina, Taiwan, Canada, and Denmark; two in the US; one in Austria, the UK, and multiple countries in Africa and Asia; one in the US and Latin America; one in the Netherlands and Australia; and one in an international network that includes members from Europe, the Americas, and Australia.

El presente libro resulta de la compilación de diez artículos elaborados por un equipo de investigación que viene trabajando junto a "otros actores anónimos", hace más de un lustro, revalorizando esa "otredad". Representa, en algún sentido, un marco teórico a partir de posicionamientos, tanto ideológicos como axiológicos, que el grupo de autores y los "otros" han ido adoptando en sus recorridos tanto investigativos como de la vida cotidiana generando, madura y comprometidamente, un sólido camino hacia abordajes epistemológicos alternativos junto a sus correlatos metodológicos, tal vez estos aún incipientes. El planteo general de los artículos que se presentan corresponde a un relato teórico empírico que reivindica la diversidad de saberes desde una reflexión de convivencia, no tan sólo conveniente sino esencialmente democrática, que postula la necesidad de encuentros pluriversales, donde el valor no se restringe a la legitimación de la ciencia moderna, dando a luz otro producto: un saber colectivo fruto de la articulación horizontal, y no necesariamente verbalizada, de conocimientos de sentido común y específicos.
