Ante la renovación de los planes de estudios de Ingeniería, se han introducido nuevas asignaturas que recogen y amplían la denominación clásica de cinemática y dinámica de máquinas. Son asignaturas que pertenecen al ámbito de trabajo de la IFToMM (Federación Mundial para la Promoción de la Ciencia de Máquinas y Mecanismos). Esta nueva edición actualizada del libro Problemas resueltos de Teoría de Máquinas y Mecanismos viene a completar y ampliar algunos aspectos de estas asignaturas que, o bien ya fueron examinados anteriormente, o requieren una presentación más amplia en forma de problemas. Desde un enfoque teórico-práctico y pensando siempre en el alumnado, se han tratado aquellos tópicos de la cinemática y dinámica de máquinas que, en nuestra experiencia docente, hemos considerado fundamentales. En la Bibliografía final se presentan aquellos libros en los que se podrán ampliar y profundizar los conceptos desarrollados. Cada capítulo del libro se ha estructurado a partir de unos conceptos básicos y una serie de problemas resueltos, organizados siempre de menor a mayor dificultad y aplicando una adecuada dosificación de la herramienta matemática utilizada. La formación en el campo de la Teoría de Máquinas del futuro ingeniero se realiza de una manera progresiva y se da una visión panorámica de la realidad profesional al introducir desde el primer momento el ámbito industrial y su problemática. Por todo ello, este libro puede servir como texto y apoyo a asignaturas con los descriptores de la Teoría de Máquinas en los planes de Ingeniería de las diferentes Universidades, tanto nacionales como extranjeras. En particular, a los contenidos científi cos de asignaturas como Elementos de Máquinas, Diseño Mecánico, Tecnología de Fabricación, Cálculo de Máquinas, Teoría de Vehículos, Ferrocarriles y Transportes, o sus equivalentes en los nuevos planes de estudio, que utilizarán en mayor o menor medida los conocimientos desarrollados en este libro.
