You Can Change the World: The Global Citizen's Handbook for Living on Planet Earth should be required reading for anyone who cares about the future of the planet. Written by renowned scientist, futurist and Club of Budapest founder Ervin Laszlo, You Can Change the World answers two pertinent questions-first, what is at the root of all the conflict and crisis in today's world? And second, what can actually be done to move toward a world where we can live in peace, without marginalizing and killing each other and destroying the environment?A handbook that urges readers to become global citizens who aspire to live responsibly on this precious but highly exploited and crisis-prone planet, You Can Change the World provides a simple and basic message: in today's world it is neither wealth nor power, nor the control of territory and technology that make the crucial difference. How we think and act shapes our present and decides our future.

Earth Citizen written by Ilchi Lee and has been published by SCB Distributors this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011-06 with Philosophy categories.

Ilchi Lee's new book, Earth Citizen, is humanity's passport to a whole new world. In the book, Lee asks us to shed old identities that are illusionary and divisive, and to take on a new identity--Earth Citizen. It is through this simple shift in self-identification, he argues, that the world can find the answers to its many complex problems. Lee contends that while the cultures of the world may remain diverse, we are all united by our dependence on a single planet--the Earth. For this reason, he says we must all find a way to place the Earth at the center of our personal value systems. It is only by realizing our common humanity through the Earth that we may come together as one to create a peaceful and sustainable way of life on the planet.

Citizens of planet earth, our living planet is slowly dying before our eyes. With the unprecedented deforestation of the Amazon and the Congo Basin rainforests, the earth has lost an estimated 50% of its terrestrial plants and 20% of its animal biodiversity. If current trends continue, as many as 10 million plant and animal species will face extinction in the near future. Deforestation has accelerated the frequency and the intensity of extreme weather events and the natural disasters such as heatwaves, droughts, hurricanes, tornedos, floods, landslides, and even volcanoes and tsunamis, which have badly impacted human health and life, in addition to worsening air and water quality. Microbes and viruses are pushed into human space, increasing the spread of certain diseases and pandemics. This book points to the assets readily available for stopping deforestation and revitalizing the dying planet earth, and calls for action now, not later, as a result of a revolution of heart, mind and conscience. These assets include a mindset that must come to term with the fact that rainforests and the natural world uncontrollably exploited as resources for production and consumption will not always be there, the millennia of accumulated eco-balance life experience and wisdom of indigenous communities and local populations who utilized and cared for the rainforests, the contribution of scientists in terms of smart and green technologies, corporations that can use cutting edge technologies and renewable resources to produce electricity and to manufacture abundant goods and products in an environmentally friendly fashion to meet people's needs, governments and international organizations that can design and implement policies that incentivize and support the green industrial revolution. These assets together will stop uncontrolled deforestation to allow planet earth to heal and be there for generations to come.

Planet Earth written by Bob Brown and has been published by Hardie Grant Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-10-01 with Nature categories.

In his first speech in the Senate, Bob Brown raised the threat posed by climate change. It has taken 10 years for politicians to finally begin to acknowledge the causes and effects of climate change.

Since 1996, Bob has continued to take a courageous, and often politically lonely, stand on issues around the saving of our planet, whether they have a local or international focus: saving Tasmania’s ancient forests, opposing the dumping of nuclear waste in Australia, protesting against Japanese whaling, the protection of rainforests and a host of other campaigns.

In 2010 Bob led the Australian Greens to a historic result with more than 1.6 million Australians voting for the Greens. In 2012 Bob stepped down as Leader of the Australian Greens, and then retired from the Senate. Since then he has continued to campaign on conservation issues across Australia and the world.

This book is both an inspiration and a call to action: Bob Brown's words are a clear message on the issues facing our planet yet his positive approach is an inspiration to us all.
