Due to pressure from government regulations, the design and development of new manufacturing processes are shifting to pollution prevention and waste reduction at the source through the implementation of proper process and product design. Clean Technology incorporates ideas for pollution prevention/waste reduction at the early stages of process design and development. It covers guidelines for development projects, provides background information, and presents general principles for sound engineering together with pollution reduction alternatives. Industrial and hazardous waste, process engineering, energy systems, materials and product design, recycling, and biodegradability are among the subjects discussed. Market mechanisms, economy in production, and policy questions are also covered. Clean Technology will be an important reference for environmental engineers, process and design engineers, consultants, students, and libraries. It provides engineers, consultants, and students with background and techniques for improved waste reduction and pollution control through proper engineering. It will also be a valuable textbook for advanced engineering programs that are working within today's environmental policies.

The Clean Tech Revolution written by Ron Pernick and has been published by Harper Collins this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009-10-13 with Business & Economics categories.

When industry giants such as GE, Toyota, and Sharp and investment firms such as Goldman Sachs are making multibillion-dollar investments in clean technology, the message is clear. Developing clean technologies is no longer a social issue championed by environmentalists; it's a moneymaking enterprise moving solidly into the business mainstream. In fact, as the economy faces unprecedented challenges from high energy prices, resource shortages, and global environmental and security threats, clean tech—technologies designed to provide superior performance at a lower cost while creating significantly less waste than conventional offerings—promises to be the next engine of economic growth. In The Clean Tech Revolution, authors Ron Pernick and Clint Wilder identify the major forces that have pushed clean tech from back-to-the-earth utopian dream to its current revolution among the inner circles of corporate boardrooms, on Wall Street trading floors, and in government offices around the globe. By highlighting eight major clean-tech sectors—solar energy, wind power, biofuels and biomaterials, green buildings, personal transportation, the smart grid, mobile applications, and water filtration—they uncover how investors, entrepreneurs, and individuals can profit from this next wave of technological innovation. Pernick and Wilder shine the spotlight on the winners among technologies, companies, and regions that are likely to reap the greatest benefits from clean tech—and they show you why the time to act is now. Groundbreaking and authoritative, The Clean Tech Revolution is the must-read book to understand and profit from the clean technologies that are reshaping our fast-changing world.

Clean Technology written by Koso Brown and has been published by Independently Published this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-01-22 with Technology & Engineering categories.

The world is changing due to technology, and this trend will only intensify. Whether the shift has been for the better or worse is usually up for debate. Clean Tech can help with this. The goal of the field of "clean technology" is to lessen human effects on the environment. Because governments all over the world have declared a climate emergency, there is a push to adopt clean technology solutions. This is a direct outcome of our energy dependence since the Industrial Revolution on fossil fuels. Governments are enacting laws requiring businesses and people to lessen their environmental effects. Schemes for voluntary reduction and carbon trading are being introduced to support these regimes. There has to be a broad adoption of clean technology both now and in the future as a result of the increasing pressure from international communities and organizations.

The Globalization Of Clean Energy Technology written by Kelly Sims Gallagher and has been published by MIT Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-02-24 with Political Science categories.

An examination of barriers that impede and incentives that motivate the global development and deployment of cleaner energy technologies, with case studies from China. The development and deployment of cleaner energy technologies have become globalized phenomena. Yet despite the fact that energy-related goods account for more than ten percent of international trade, policy makers, academics, and the business community perceive barriers to the global diffusion of these emerging technologies. Experts point to problems including intellectual property concerns, trade barriers, and developing countries' limited access to technology and funding. In this book, Kelly Gallagher uses analysis and case studies from China's solar photovoltaic, gas turbine, advanced battery, and coal gasification industries to examine both barriers and incentives in clean energy technology transfer. Gallagher finds that the barriers are not as daunting as many assume; these technologies already cross borders through foreign direct investment, licensing, joint R&D, and other channels. She shows that intellectual property infringement is not as widespread as business leaders fear and can be managed, and that firms in developing countries show considerable resourcefulness in acquiring technology legally. She finds that financing does present an obstacle, especially when new cleaner technologies compete with entrenched, polluting, and often government-subsidized traditional technologies. But the biggest single barrier, she finds, is the failure of government to provide sensible policy incentives. The case studies show how government, through market-formation policy, can unleash global market forces. Gallagher's findings have theoretical significance as well; she proposes a new model of global technology diffusion that casts doubt on aspects of technology transfer theory.

Intellectual Property And Climate Change written by Matthew Rimmer and has been published by Edward Elgar Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011-11-01 with Technology & Engineering categories.

'An historically grounded study on a cutting-edge topic, Intellectual Property and Climate Change has it all. Not only is it well-written, concise, and hugely informative, it is also a timely intervention addressing truly global challenges. Quite simply, a must-read.' Eva Hemmungs Wirtén, Uppsala University, Sweden 'Rimmer provides a much needed, well written, authoritative book on the intellectual property aspects of climate change, natural disasters, clean vehicles, and renewable energy. The book is essential reading for those wishing to better understand the complex patent issues involved with transitioning away from our current fossil-dominated economy to a more environmentally sustainable and equitable energy future.' Benjamin K. Sovacool, National University of Singapore In the wake of the international summits in Copenhagen and Cancún, there is an urgent need to consider the role of intellectual property law in encouraging research, development, and diffusion of clean technologies to mitigate and adapt to the effects of climate change. This book charts the patent landscapes and legal conflicts emerging in a range of fields of innovation including renewable forms of energy, such as solar power, wind power, and geothermal energy; as well as biofuels, green chemistry, green vehicles, energy efficiency, and smart grids. As well as reviewing key international treaties, this book provides a detailed analysis of current trends in patent policy and administration in key nation states, and offers clear recommendations for law reform. It considers such options as technology transfer, compulsory licensing, public sector licensing, and patent pools; and analyses the development of Climate Innovation Centres, the Eco-Patent Commons, and environmental prizes, such as the L-Prize, the H-Prize, and the X-Prizes. This book will have particular appeal to policy-makers given its focus upon recent legislative developments and reform proposals, as well as legal practitioners by developing a better understanding of recent legal, scientific, and business developments, and how they affect their practice. Innovators, scientists and researchers will also benefit from reading this book.
