This open access book discusses the impact of human-induced global climate change on the regional climate and monsoons of the Indian subcontinent, adjoining Indian Ocean and the Himalayas. It documents the regional climate change projections based on the climate models used in the IPCC Fifth Assessment Report (AR5) and climate change modeling studies using the IITM Earth System Model (ESM) and CORDEX South Asia datasets. While in India, Walker began writing a series of descriptive papers, based on statistical methods, in which he systematically documented the structure, seasonality, and evolution of the principal patterns of year-to-year climate variability — later known as teleconnection patterns — on a global basis.Part 2 provides an overview of Walker's work on teleconnection patterns. It features a reprint of his most widely cited paper, published in 1932, on his so-called North Atlantic Oscillation, North Pacific Oscillation, and Southern Oscillation. Parts 3 and 4 contain reprints of more recent papers relating to these patterns.
