This book presents100 cases covering all areas of reconstructive surgery. Divided into six parts (Head/Neck, Upper Extremity, Lower Extremity, Trunk, Breast and Lymphedema), it guides the reader through the difficult path of problem diagnosis, analysis and decision-making, presenting concrete steps and techniques for the successful management of patients with specific reconstructive needs. Each full-color case starts with a patient profile and continues with the diagnosis, key decisions, treatment plan, surgical procedure(s) and technical steps, postoperative management, outcome and case conclusion. Further, each case includes a discussion of pros and cons, comments, learning points and suggestions for further reading. This book will be useful for all surgeons actively involved or interested in Reconstructive Microsurgery and valuable for Senior Residents and Fellows in Plastic, Head and Neck, Breast Surgery and Orthopedics.

Since the first successful digit replantation in Japan in 1965, the field of microvascular surgery has rapidly progressed throughout Japan and the world. Experimental and Clinical Reconstructive Microsurgery draws on the experience of a large number of experts in the areas of experimental microsurgery, limb and digit replantation, and composite tissue transplantation. The result is an extensive monograph covering the history and future prospects of microsurgery, essential microsurgical techniques for laboratory research, and the fundamental methods of harvesting tissues and their grafting techniques. Because the field of microsurgery includes a broad range of clinical disciplines, this book is a valuable resource to all orthopedic, traumatic, and plastic surgeons with an interest in microsurgery.

Practical Microsurgery Cases written by Chunlin Hou and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-07-26 with Medical categories.

This book aims to introduce the most recent microsurgical techniques and applications in the pattern of illustrative case presentations, including digit replantation, toe-to-hand transplantation, peripheral nerve injuries especially total brachial plexus avulsion injury, surgical flaps. Microsurgery appeared to be a great procedure suitable for more applications. Anatomic research of the blood supply of skin, fascia, nerve, muscle, and bone identified flaps could be carried by pedicle vessels. Transfer of these flaps and revascularization by micro-vascular anastomoses of the arteries and veins set the stages for free flaps. In free flap surgery, single-stage and complex reconstructions could be achieved, which then lead to earlier mobilization and better restoration of function with a shorter hospital stay. Today, microsurgical technique is fully matured, and micro-vascular free tissue transfer is an essential part of reconstructive surgery. Development of microsurgery in China is introduced in the initiation of the current book. Key technical points and experience of replantation, reconstruction, tissue repair, nerve repair and reconstruction, oncological repair and reconstruction cases together with other applications of microsurgery are further demonstrated.

Between 1977-1987, I established and developed the Reconstructive Microsurgery Department at the "Carol Davila" University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest. I took my models from the pioneers of the international reconstructive microsurgery. The main stages in the development of my project included: theoretical study, experimental microsurgery in a specialized laboratory, the microsurgical reconstruction of peripheral nerves, replantations and revascularizations, post-traumatic brachial plexus, free flap transfer as well as other miscellaneous clinical reconstructive microsurgery (female and male sterility treatment). By 1987, I was able to perform all types of reconstructive microsurgery known in the world at the time; by 2005, I already had a large collection of significant cases equally useful to teaching and research.

The 50 chapters cover everything from surgical fundamentals to preconditions of microsurgical techniques, but also covers pre-operative planning, steps of microsurgical dissection and management of complications in a straightforward, explanatory style, and are supplemented by over 600 clinical illustrations and cadaveric images. Further videos demonstrations with pertinent steps in flap dissection, anatomical nomenclature and long-term outcomes are also demonstrated. For each flap a detailed discussion of key papers concerning its origin, pitfalls, technical refinements and tips for success are also included. Thanks to specific notes on common reconstructive challenges and complications, this book offers a valuable reference tool and would be unquestionably an integral reference guide for every surgeon interested in reconstructive microsurgical techniques, especially during their early microsurgical career.

This volume, dealing with situations from a nailbed injury to an amputation or a gunshot wound and almost everything in between, is a comprehensive but simple manual, addressing the most frequent, and some of the not-so-frequent, emergencies in the field of hand surgery. Every chapter is written by a group of experienced hand surgeons from around the world, who will guide the reader on the management of a variety of different conditions and injuries. Some of the topics covered here include how to examine and treat an acute brachial plexus injury, learning how wrist biomechanics is applied to the management of acute carpal injuries, and performing wide-awake anesthesia with no tourniquet on an acutely injured hand, among many others.
