"What you're about to read is a workbook that is written by experts in the clinical education and research space. Our goal is to nurture clinicians who wish to engage in clinical education research with comfortable, digestible language. We want to leave you inspired and with a plan to engage with clinical education research, whether or not you have a "research degree." Rather than give you outlines of all the chapters, we want you to envision a funnel. On the wide end of that funnel, we'll discuss issues related to you, your roles, and research in general. Those areas will be covered in Chapters 1 through 4. We'll then narrow things down in Chapters 5 through 8 where you'll receive advice on seeking help, formulating, and refining your questions, and designing your research. Finally, Chapters 9 through 12 will get you planning on how to conduct your clinical education research and disseminate your hard work. We know that what you are about to read will be something that you will cover over the period of months (or more!). But we trust you will read the workbook, make some plans, and then come back to individual chapters as you engage with your path in the research cycle! Enjoy taking some time to consider your research journey! We believe you have so much to contribute"--

This practical ‘How To’ guide talks the reader step-by-step through designing, conducting and disseminating primary care research, a growing discipline internationally. The vast majority of health care issues are experienced by people in community settings, who are not adequately represented by hospital-based research. There is therefore a great need to upskill family physicians and other primary care workers and academics to conduct community-based research to inform best practice. Aimed at emerging researchers, including those in developing countries, this book also addresses cutting edge and newly developing research methods, which will be of equal interest to more experienced researchers.

Susan Cahill and Patricia Bowyer, along with more than 50 contributors, begin each section with an introduction to the practice setting and direct instructors and students to additional resources for more information. Cases are presented from various practice settings, including: The neonatal intensive care unit Early intervention School systems Outpatient services Hospital-based settings Mental health settings Community settings Each case included in Cases in Pediatric Occupational Therapy is written by professionals with first-hand experience working with pediatric clients from the specific practice setting, and it aligns with the occupational therapy process represented in the AOTA’s Occupational Therapy Practice Framework, Third Edition. In addition, supplemental information, photographs, and video clips help to bring the cases to life. Included with the text are online supplemental materials for faculty use in the classroom. Cases in Pediatric Occupational Therapy will guide occupational therapy students, faculty, and practitioners through effective clinical decision making during the selection of assessment procedures and the development of client-centered and context-specific intervention plans.

Academic Promotion For Clinicians written by Anne Walling and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-11-10 with Medical categories.

This book is a practical guide to the appointment, promotion, and tenure (APT) process for clinical faculty members employed by medical schools. The number of clinical faculty members in US medical schools has increased exponentially in the last two decades. At the same time, faculty career tracks and promotion requirements have changed dramatically and medical schools have introduced multiple non-tenure career tracks. Currently, only about 25% of the approximately 150,000 members of clinical departments. This book provides insights and recommendations on career planning and academic promotion for clinical faculty members. It also addresses much of the “mythology” surrounding the APT process and demonstrates how academic promotion should be used as a career-building process rather than a daunting high-risk event. Topics include concepts and processes within academic promotion; navigating the academic promotion and tenure process; and managing the outcome of the APT application. Academic Promotion for Clinicians is a valuable resource for clinical medicine faculty members as they engage in and successfully handle the challenges in the APT process and thus realize their career goals.

Combining and integrating cross-institutional data remains a challenge for both researchers and those involved in patient care. Patient-generated data can contribute precious information to healthcare professionals by enabling monitoring under normal life conditions and also helping patients play a more active role in their own care. This book presents the proceedings of MEDINFO 2019, the 17th World Congress on Medical and Health Informatics, held in Lyon, France, from 25 to 30 August 2019. The theme of this year’s conference was ‘Health and Wellbeing: E-Networks for All’, stressing the increasing importance of networks in healthcare on the one hand, and the patient-centered perspective on the other. Over 1100 manuscripts were submitted to the conference and, after a thorough review process by at least three reviewers and assessment by a scientific program committee member, 285 papers and 296 posters were accepted, together with 47 podium abstracts, 7 demonstrations, 45 panels, 21 workshops and 9 tutorials. All accepted paper and poster contributions are included in these proceedings. The papers are grouped under four thematic tracks: interpreting health and biomedical data, supporting care delivery, enabling precision medicine and public health, and the human element in medical informatics. The posters are divided into the same four groups. The book presents an overview of state-of-the-art informatics projects from multiple regions of the world; it will be of interest to anyone working in the field of medical informatics.

Epidemiology Evidence Based Care And Outcomes In Spinal Cord Injury written by Nader Fallah and has been published by Frontiers Media SA this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-03-12 with Medical categories.

Spinal cord injury (SCI) is a life altering condition that has a profound effect on an individual’s motor, sensory and autonomic functions which impacts their ability to participate in society and decreases their quality of life. There are emerging innovations that can help restore neurological function and existing best practices that can be implemented today to improve care, however these are not consistently applied in practice or understood by individuals with SCI and their families. It is estimated to take an average of 17 years for research evidence to be translated into practice. To shorten this timeframe, there is a need to: understand the current epidemiology of SCI in the context of an aging population, quantify the economic impact, determine the effect of the injury on outcomes (e.g. neurology, function, mortality, quality of life), and ensure the knowledge is implemented so individuals living with SCI can benefit.
