Wittgenstein And The Limits Of Language written by Hanne Appelqvist and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-11-25 with Philosophy categories.

The limit of language is one of the most pervasive notions found in Wittgenstein’s work, both in his early Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus and his later writings. Moreover, the idea of a limit of language is intimately related to important scholarly debates on Wittgenstein’s philosophy, such as the debate between the so-called traditional and resolute interpretations, Wittgenstein’s stance on transcendental idealism, and the philosophical import of Wittgenstein’s latest work On Certainty. This collection includes thirteen original essays that provide a comprehensive overview of the various ways in which Wittgenstein appeals to the limit of language at different stages of his philosophical development. The essays connect the idea of a limit of language to the most important themes discussed by Wittgenstein—his conception of logic and grammar, the method of philosophy, the nature of the subject, and the foundations of knowledge—as well as his views on ethics, aesthetics, and religion. The essays also relate Wittgenstein’s thought to his contemporaries, including Carnap, Frege, Heidegger, Levinas, and Moore.

This book covers the first 500 years of the common era. These years witnessed the revivals of Aristotelianism, Epicureanism, Pyrrhonism, Cynicism, and Pythagoreanism; but by far the most important movement was the revival of Platonism under Plotinus. Here, the historical context of Plotinus is provided including the currents of thought that preceded him and opened the path for him. The presuppositions of the Enneads are made explicit and the thought of Plotinus is reconstructed. The author reorients the expositions of Middle Platonism and neo-Pythagoreanism. He provides a full exposition of Hermeticism and the doctrines of the Chaldean Oracles. He also defends the notion that Philo of Alexandria nourished a Jewish philosophy, not an eclectic mixture.

"The second edition of this meticulously researched volume continues to be based on the best and most current theory and research in the field of nonverbal communication. The author skillfully organizes his work conceptually around the major functions, purposes, and uses of nonverbal communication - a most effective, relevant, and intellectually rich approach. A comprehensive introduction to the field familiarizes the reader with the definition of and neurophysiological explanations for nonverbal communication and the structure of nonverbal message codes, after which biological and cultural differences are explored. In the chapters that follow, the author examines the impact of emotion, anxiety and arousal, communication avoidance, immediacy and intimacy, as well as the functions of nonverbal communication, including power, intimacy, and deception. The discussion of important communication theories, as well as ethical issues, completes this thorough treatment of one of the fastest-growing communication research areas."--Jacket.

Of Problematology written by Michel Meyer and has been published by University of Chicago Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1995-08-15 with Philosophy categories.

Michel Meyer offers a new beginning for philosophy rooted in a theory of questioning that he calls "problematology." Meyer argues that a new beginning is necessary in order to resituate philosophy, science, and linguistic analysis, and he proposes a global view of rationality by returning to the nature of questioning itself. For Meyer, philosophy does not solve problems or give answers but instead shows how propositions are related to a whole field of questions that give them meaning. Reason is identified not with answers but with the question-answer process. Meyer pursues this new theory of reason and meaning in a critique of Western philosophy from Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle through Heidegger, Wittgenstein, and Foucault. He provides a detailed analysis of Descartes' notion of radical doubt and demonstrates its implications for the subsequent philosophical tradition that ignored the questioning process while pursuing an unshakable foundation for knowledge. Meyer argues that recent work in rhetoric points toward a theory of radical questioning and claims that the methods of rhetoric and argumentation must be turned back on philosophy itself in order to recover the original significance of metaphysics as the science of ultimate questions.

And Life Goes On written by Francisco Cândido Xavier and has been published by FEB Editora this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-11-09 with Religion categories.

This book presents a description of the human being after discarnation and demonstrates that, in the Beyond, the mental state of spirits directly impacts their existence there. In 26 chapters, it tells the story of real characters who receive the help of spirit friends upon discarnating. These friends encourage them to renew themselves spiritually through study and work in order to prepare to review and untangle the meaning of the lives they have just finished, thereby enabling them to pursue a more constructive course of behavior for their future. It teaches us to examine our lives continually, knowing that, according to the laws of God, life does in fact go on, full of hope and effort, progress and accomplishment after death.
