E l'intrecciarsi del gesto quotidiano del mangiare con il continuo stupore dello straordinario è una delle cause della suggestione che il libro esercita sul lettore bambino o su chi nella maturità ha saputo conservare nel cuore un po' di sana "fanciullaggine".
