Decision making in land management involves preferential selection among competing alternatives. Often, such choices are difficult owing to the complexity of the decision context. Because the analytic hierarchy process (AHP, developed by Thomas Saaty in the 1970s) has been successfully applied to many complex planning, resource allocation, and priority setting problems in business, energy, health, marketing, natural resources, and transportation, more applications of the AHP in natural resources and environmental sciences are appearing regularly. This realization has prompted the authors to collect some of the important works in this area and present them as a single volume for managers and scholars. Because land management contains a somewhat unique set of features not found in other AHP application areas, such as site-specific decisions, group participation and collaboration, and incomplete scientific knowledge, this text fills a void in the literature on management science and decision analysis for forest resources.

CRIWG conferences follow a simple recipe for success: good papers, a relatively small number of attendees, extensive time for lively and constructive discussions, and a high level of cooperation both within and between paper sessions. CRIWG 2010 continued this tradition. th This 16 CRIWG exempli?ed the continuing interest in the groupware - searcharea. Paperswerereviewedbyatleastthreemembersofaninternationally renowned Program Committee, using a double-blind reviewing process. Based on the reviewers' recommendations 27 papers were ?nally accepted: 18 long - pers presenting mature work, and 9 short papers describing work in progress. The accepted papers were grouped into seven themes that represent current - eas of interest in groupware research: Knowledge Elicitation, Construction and Structuring, Collaboration and Decision Making, Collaborative Development, Awareness, Support for Groupware Design, Social Networking and Mobile C- laboration. In addition, we featured a paper describing the history of CRIWG research. We were further very pleased to have Jay Nunamaker, Director of the Center for Management of Information at the University of Arizona, USA, a renowned specialist in group support systems as keynote speaker.

Health Science And Place written by Amy J. Blatt and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-11-21 with Science categories.

The main focus of this monograph is synthesizing the importance of geographic approaches to public health and patient care. The chapters are organized into four themed sections: the role of geography in health care reform; the geographies of human health; geospatial data and technologies; and geography in medicine. It is a highly informative book, providing scientific insight for geographers with an interest in advanced geospatial applications and health research. The author is an international expert in geography, GIS, and public health, who co-edited a special issue on “Geospatial Applications in Disease Surveillance,” published in the International Journal of Applied Geospatial Research. "Health, Science, and Place is a well-intentioned overview of medical geography in the context of the ACA. Blatt does an excellent job synthesizing ecologic and geographic literatures with what we know about individual health, health care systems, and public health. ... this book fills a need in the field by offering a timely discussion of the ACA and medical geography." - Jennifer L. Moss, The AAG Review of Books, Vol. 4 (2), 2016 “Amy Blatt’s pioneering new book on geomedicine and its exciting capacity to promote health and minimize risk is a robust call for understanding the role of geography for everyone’s quality of life. In Health, Science, and Place: A New Mode, Dr. Blatt’s contributions can be summarized in three categories: comprehensive analysis, creative curating, and targeted innovations... Overall, Dr. Blatt’s Health, Science, and Place: A New Model is a pathbreaking book challenging all public health and health communication scholars and practitioners to explore vigorously the role of medical geography as a shining new bridge between geography and patient care.” - John C. Pollock, PhD, MPA, Professor of Health Communication and Human Rights, and Faculty Affiliate in Public Health, The College of New Jersey, Ewing, NJ
