This book makes a global survey of nonperturbative aspects of quantum chromodynamics (QCD) from the viewpoints of mathematical, elementary-particle and hadron physics, including recent lattice-QCD results. It presents current, important progress in the following areas: the quark confinement mechanism, dynamical chiral-symmetry breaking, topologies in QCD (instantons, monopoles, vortices), SUSY QCD, nonperturbative methods (1/Nc, ladder QCD, AdS/CFT), QCD phase transition at finite temperature and density, quark-gluon plasma, and so on. For recent topics, the book also includes the experimental discovery of the penta-quark particle, the newest information on the QGP creation experiments, and theoretical progress on the baryonic three-quark potential and the high-density QCD.The proceedings have been selected for coverage in:• Index to Scientific & Technical Proceedings® (ISTP® / ISI Proceedings)• Index to Scientific & Technical Proceedings (ISTP CDROM version / ISI Proceedings)• CC Proceedings — Engineering & Physical Sciences

The Quark Confinement Model Of Hadrons written by G.V Efimov and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1993-01-01 with Science categories.
Filling the gap in the literature on low-energy quark models, The Quark Confinement Model of Hadrons investigates confinement effects in the low-energy regions of particle physics using the methods of nonlocal quantum field theory. It also elucidates their role in describing microscopic quantities that characterize hadron-hadron interactions. The authors present a quark confinement model to describe the low-energy physics of light hadrons. Hadrons are treated as collective colorless excitations of quark-gluon interactions while the quark confinement is to be provided by averaging over gluon backgrounds. The model is shown to reproduce the low-energy relations of chiral theory in the case of null momenta and, in addition, allow the researcher to obtain more sophisticated hadron characteristics, such as slope parameters and form factors. Presenting a unified view on a number of low-energy phenomena, The Quark Confinement Model of Hadrons enables an understanding of problems related to the treatment of large distances within quantum chromodynamics.

The quark confinement mechanism is one of the most difficult problems in particle physics, and is listed as the 7 difficult mathematical problems of the new millennium. The first person who first solves this problem will be awarded a prize of US$ 1 Million by Cray Mathematics Institute. This volume is useful for the systematic understanding of quark confinement and nonperturbative aspects of quantum chromodynamics (QCD) from the wide viewpoints of mathematical physics, lattice QCD physics and quark-hadron physics. It covers the current studies of nonperturbative QCD: quark confinement mechanism; topologies in QCD (instantons, monopoles and vortices); BRS quartet mechanism for color confinement; lattice QCD calculations for quarks, gluons and hadrons; dynamical chiral symmetry breaking and hadrons.

Lectures On Quantum Chromodynamics written by A. V. Smilga and has been published by World Scientific this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2001 with Science categories.
Quantum chromodynamics is the fundamental theory of strong interactions. It is a physical theory describing Nature. Lectures on Quantum Chromodynamics concentrates, however, not on the phenomenological aspect of QCD; books with comprehensive coverage of phenomenological issues have been written. What the reader will find in this book is a profound discussion on the theoretical foundations of QCD with emphasis on the nonperturbative formulation of the theory: What is gauge symmetry on the classical and on the quantum level? What is the path integral in field theory? How to define the path integral on the lattice, keeping intact as many symmetries of the continuum theory as possible? What is the QCD vacuum state? What is the effective low energy dynamics of QCD? How do the ITEP sum rules work? What happens if we heat and/or squeeze hadronic matter? Perturbative issues are also discussed: How to calculate Feynman graphs? What is the BRST symmetry? What is the meaning of the renormalization procedure? How to resum infrared and collinear singularities? And so on. The book is an outgrowth of the course of lectures given by the author for graduate students at ITEP in Moscow. Much extra material has been added. Sample Chapter(s). Introduction: Some History (331 KB). Lecture 1.1: Path Ordered Exponentials. Invariant Actions (624 KB). Lecture 1.2: Classical Solutions (266 KB). Lecture 2.1: Topological Charge (329 KB). Lecture 2.2: Explicit Solutions (338 KB). Lecture 3.1: Conventional Approach (330 KB). Lecture 3.2: Euclidean Path Integral (150 KB). Lecture 3.3: Holomorphic Representation (177 KB). Lecture 3.4: Grassmann Dynamic Variables (340 KB). Lecture 4.1: Dirac Quantization Procedure 782 KB). Lecture 4.2: Path Integral on the Lattice (330 KB). Lecture 5.1: Quantum Pendulum (534 KB). Lecture 5.2: Large Gauge Transformations in Non-Abelian Theory (395 KB). Contents: Foundations: YangOCoMills Field; Instantons; Path Integral in Quantum Mechanics; Quantization of Gauge Theories; Perturbation Theory: Diagram Technique in Simple and Complicated Theories; When the Gauge is Fixed OC Regularization and Renormalization; Running Coupling Constant; Weathering Infrared Storms; Collinear Singularities: Theory and Phenomenology; Nonperturbative QCD: Symmetries: Anomalous and Not; Quarks on Euclidean Lattice; Aspects of Chiral Symmetry; Mesoscopic QCD; Fairy QCD; ITEP Sum Rules: The Duality Festival; Hot and Dense QCD; Confinement. 'Harald Fritzsch and Murray Gell-Mann, the two fathers of quantum chromodynamics, look back at the events that led to the discovery, and eventually acceptance, of quarks as constituent particles ... it is always worthwhile to reminisce about those times when theoretical physicists were truly eclectic, these stories are the testimony of a very active era, in which theoretical and experimental discoveries rapidly chased one another ... Of central importance now is the understanding of the composition of our universe, the dark matter and dark energy, the hierarchy of masses and forces, and a consistent quantum framework of unification of all forces of nature, including gravity. The closing contributions of the book put this venture in the context of today's high-energy physics programme, and make a connection to the most popular ideas in high-energy physics today, including supersymmetry, unification and string theory.'CERN CourierToday it is known that the atomic nuclei are composed of smaller constituents, the quarks. A quark is always bound with two other quarks, forming a baryon or with an antiquark, forming a meson. The quark model was first postulated in 1964 by Murray Gell-Mann — who coined the name “quark” from James Joyce's novel Finnegans Wake — and by George Zweig, who then worked at CERN. In the present theory of strong interactions — Quantum Chromodynamics proposed by H Fritzsch and Gell-Mann in 1972 — the forces that bind the quarks together are due to the exchange of eight gluons. On the 50th anniversary of the quark model, this invaluable volume looks back at the developments and achievements in the elementary particle physics that eventuated from that beautiful model. Written by an international team of distinguished physicists, each of whom have made major developments in the field, the volume provides an essential overview of the present state to the academics and researchers.
