Mary Quant defined the 60s as a renowned fashion designer and all-round style icon, most famous for inventing the miniskirt and hot pants. Not afraid of novelty or experimentation, she showed a generation of women how to dress to please themselves. Quant's career was fulsome and varied - from opening up a clothes shop on the King's Road called Bazaar, designing the interior of the Mini (including her signature daisy), to her vast cosmetics company, Mary Quant Limited, she has widespread appeal to generations of women. In her autobiography, Mary combines the inspirational story of a stellar career with the touching personal story of her life with the man she loved, Alexander Plunkett-Green and her role of mother to their son, Orlando. Mary Quant gives us a glimpse of the real women behind the icon.

The story of Eastmancolor's arrival on the British filmmaking scene is one of intermittent trial and error, intense debate and speculation before gradual acceptance. This book traces the journey of its adoption in British Film and considers its lasting significance as one of the most important technical innovations in film history. Through original archival research and interviews with key figures within the industry, the authors examine the role of Eastmancolor in relation to key areas of British cinema since the 1950s; including its economic and structural histories, different studio and industrial strategies, and the wider aesthetic changes that took place with the mass adoption of colour. Their analysis of British cinema through the lens of colour produces new interpretations of key British film genres including social realism, historical and costume drama, science fiction, horror, crime, documentary and even sex films. They explore how colour communicated meaning in films ranging from the Carry On series to Monty Python's Life of Brian (1979), from Lawrence of Arabia (1962) to A Passage to India (1984), and from Goldfinger (1964) to 1984 (1984), and in the work of key directors and cinematographers of both popular and art cinema including Nicolas Roeg, Ken Russell, Ridley Scott, Peter Greenaway and Chris Menges.

'Sicily Herald and the Blazon of Colours' brings together the original texts with original English translations of two closely related primary sources on Renaissance colour symbolism. 'Le Blason de toutes armes et scutz' (The blazon of all arms and shields) was completed about 1420 by Jean Courtois (c. 1375-1436), the Sicily Herald, and printed in Paris in 1495. The second, 'Le Blason des couleurs en armes, livr es, et devises' (The blazon of colours in arms, liveries and devices), by Gilles Corrozet (1510-68), was published in Paris in 1527 by Pierre Le Brodeur. They were first two books on colour to be printed in Europe, and are now available in English for the first time in five centuries. Roy Osborne is an artist, educator and historian, and author of books on colour. He was awarded the Turner Medal of the Colour Group (Great Britain) in 2003, and the Colour in Art, Design and Environment Medal of the International Colour Association in 2019.
